    AM Unvelis V8 RS

    Vantage RS V12 600hp

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

Not bad. Thanks for the find. Wait... did I read that right? V12?

    Yes v12 600hp

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

I guess we can no longer call it the V8 RS then can we?

    A V12 in the AM V8 body: let's call it V20 then.

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

    road car?

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

Definitely a teaser and a good way to distract us from other steller cars that are out or soon to be out. I hope Aston gets nasty and just releases this car so I can expect to see a racecar version of it.

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

An interesting excersize in hodge-podging various parts together.

Worth more than DBS? I don't think so.

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

I'm very excited. When the AM was first released I had heard some speculation of an RS version. However that was never confirmed until now. Although it is a concept, I'm very interested in seeing how the final product turns out.

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

Obviously they want to play in the F430 / Gallardo arena with this car. I am surprised they are not going after the 911 GT3, but maybe they cannot play with that price point.

    Better....

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

I just noticed I put V8 in the title as opposed to Vantage .

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

And the purpose of this car?
I dont see it as a GT series car as AM would not want to trash the DBRS9/ DBR9 customers....
Any thoughts?...would'nt mind the tail lights for my Vantage though!

The point of this car is an excersize by aston martin to show what they can do. If the car reaches production it will have to be in very limited quantities at that price point (article says it will be more expensive than the DBS which means it is well north of $200kUSD)

Club racers that want a hardcore vantage already have the N24 racer. The N400 that was recently announced also is a higher tuned version of the vantage for the road.

This car also has the side skirts from the N24 racecar. It is a clear statement from aston that it is an even more hardcore version of said racecar, but legalized for the road.

This extremely hardcore model can only be seen as a very special edition to entice affluent aston collectors, they will likely make less than 100, judging from the stagnant inventory and also the economy in general, the market can't sustain a car like this on a mass production scale, nor will buyers of this car tolerate mass production at this price point.

I doubt the DBRS9's engine will make it to production in this car, but if it is produced, I wouldn't be surprised to see a detuned/lightened/higher revving version of the current DB9 V12 inside this car.

    Re: AM Unvelis V8 RS

Hm, IMHO it's getting ridiculous with all those AM special/limited models. V8 Prodrive, V8 N400, DB9 LM, DBS... now "V8 RS"... if Astons are selling so well as they claim, why is there a need for this?

Because everyone else is doing it .. witness Porsche GT-3/2, RS, Gallardo SL, wait for more special versions of the R8, etc... I assume it is a (profitable) way to appeal to a buyer who wants a more limited version of a car they already like, and can pay for the extra exclusivity.

The paradox is... my guess is that these "collectible" and limited versions are not in fact kept long term in many buyers' collections - rather they seem to be flipped very quickly more often than the stock versions are. I admit no data to support this, but this is a strong impression from various forums and from what turns up in used car sales. Do these "exclusive" buyers have shorter attention spans?

I agree that everyone is doing it, but your example using the Porsche GT2/3 is incorrect, those are valid, high performance derivatives that are established and respected niche models, like the M3 is to a regular 3 series.

However, making tons of special editions with no real value, such as the Cayman Porsche design edition 1/2(?), Boxster orange edition, rs60 boxster, cayenne GTS...

Those are simply digging into their rich history and making a pathetic excuse to try to sell more cars.

I believe the Aston N400 is a way to offer a "facelift" while still offering the original car for sale at a slightly lower price point, it also revives interest in the current model lineup.

In relation to this thread, Aston martin is having oversupply issues with their current model lineup.

Most dealers have anywhere from 6-12 V8 Vantages (1/2 to 3/4 being roadsters now) and 3-5 DB9 (half and half coupe/volante)

Not sure about the DB9, but people are getting as much as 10k USD off of a new V8 vantage, as much as 12-15 on an untitled one from the previous model year.
