Safely landed and at baggage claim now. It’s so refreshing to be met at border control with a happy attitude and a smile :)
Thank you, Ferdie and RC, I will definitely pass on your greetings and I look forward to sharing the highlights from our trip

Yay, we reached our final destination :)
We really like the subtropical climate in this part of Australia; it is very warm with some moderate humidity that makes a welcome change for someone coming from California.
I will jump into the crashing waves with my girls later, but first comes a fresh cup of espresso to push back the jet lag (I’m not kidding).

Jet lag?!? Pfff, you helicopter boys aren't used to anything, are you?
BTW, you'll have to attend the air tattoo this year... "my baby" (first aircraft I worked on) will attend, this year flying as well:

Anyway, have a great holiday mate! Send my regards to the family and be careful with the

First morning...
We went to bed early yesterday after we had fun in the warm wavy water ;-) I was really tired as I mentioned in my previous post. The Qantas flight Down Under was relatively quick (about 1 hour shorter than regular) with the usual rough spots near Hawaii that jolt you out of your sleep, and I was sleeping very well mind you :)
I’m always struck by the emotions this remote location evokes in me. Being here always makes it seem like the rest of the world doesn’t matter. The clear starry sky before sunrise is amazingly beautiful and sets the tone for each new day!
Signing off for now...

4trac:Same area as usual? Have fun... we decided to check out Watt-land this year, aka South Island NZ, so giving Aussie a pass. I may do a thread once we’ve hit our rental house.
Yes, NZ as seen through Watt’s eyes is amazing, however I think it is too cold for me I’m more like RC and prefer it warm.
Hopefully you do a thread for your trip, I’ll definitely keep my eye out for it.

Thank you for the wishes RC! Playing in the waves was just the perfect ending to our arrival day :) It is so cool to fly for so long just over water from one continent to the other (and sometimes a bit unnerving too ) !

Second day...
The day of a new pink fuchsia bikini! More about this later ;)
We have amazing summer weather here and the day ended with a beautiful thunderstorm and heavy warm rain. My daughter took some cool slow motion videos of the rain drops with her iPhone.
All three of us spent a lot of time in the warm water and enjoyed the wonderful waves. We brought two pairs of goggles this time too so we can see below the waves— from what I hear it’s amazing.
Now I need to take some bikini shots...

A hint of Valentine’s...
...from Down Under! We will be celebrating this special occasion with a sweet surprise that traveled with us all the way from Los Angeles ;)
Mrs. Valentine gives her best and wishes everyone a very happy day!

Looks tasty ...
Would love to post what I gave my wife as a Valentine's gift but I'm afraid it is rated R (no, not what you guys may think, that was her gift to me ).

A kiss from Mrs. Valentine...
We have gorgeous summer weather here in Australia, with big waves rolling in almost every day :)
These photos are from this morning taken shortly after sunrise with my iPhone 7. As you can see it was a very beautiful and romantic photo shoot ;)

Crashing waves...
Update: the beach vacation part of our trip is slowly coming to a crashing end... crashing waves that is ;)
These photos are from a few hours ago and the waves are just as big now!! Off to the beach!

Haha Gnil, you would be waiting for a very long time. Mrs. Pilot is not so found of what swims beneath the waterline and neither am I ;)
By the way, we arrived safely back in Sydney and checked into our favorite hotel here. It is Tuesday morning and we are off to a walk before breakfast...

Shades of love...🌸
The departure from our beach house was emotional as always, but we are happy to be back in Sydney :)
It is my wife’s birthday week and the rose package I ordered for her was called “Shades of Love”, which I thought was very fitting ;) Pearsons Florist (est. 1969) lived up to everything they promised on their website and delivered a “rosy” experience! If you ever need roses in Sydney I can highly recommend them.
The city shines and sparkles as it always does at night, especially with the Chinese New Year Lanterns scattered around the Harbour, and it is the perfect place for us to celebrate...🍸💕🎉
