    A real spypicture of the facelifted SL

    No offense Azt


    From this angle the nose looks more like the CL than the CLS, not a bad thing if you ask me.
    And it looks like someone has been inspired by the 997 Turbo wheels:

    It looks like its got the right lines that go well with the rest of the car.
    That photoshop didn't have that natural flow that makes a beautifull car. Although it looks like it was pretty right on some of the lights elements.

    Looks beefy enough just looking at the new side pic, though...

    OT I do see where thy got their design idea from... (hint: that white Renault in the background )

    The front seems quite similar to the new CL.

    IMHO no matter what MB do, this is 'tinkering because they have to be seen to be doing something'. It's a shame because IMO they got the styling of the SL right first time.

    I think they should have spent all that money in R&D developing a sharper, better handling chassis with a sportier set up.

    But that's just me... the sad reality is that SLs are aimed more at 'ladies who lunch in Beverly Hills' than car enthusiasts like me.

    I don't think that sad, that image is the reason why the SL has been so successful. It has the "I have made it" dream car appeal. The design is sexy, it's a convertible and it's great to drive. Simply a car for everyone.

    Yeah I agree, the SL was never meant for sports car enthusiasts. It's a beautiful roadster and I hope it always stays the way it is.

    Still an SL. For me this SL had never had the glamour or the classic of the precessors! Sadly!

    With the greatest respect to you and your opinion, I do think it's sad. Why? Because the SL is the direct descendant of the 300 SL Gull Wing which was, in its day, a superb race car. Now, with the SL, all such thoughts have gone and the SL is now a luxo-cruiser which wealthy people use for cruising from one mall to the next.

    In the case of the 'ladies who shop and lunch', the message it sends out is "My husband has made it"!

    The SL has been a luxo-cruiser ever since the original SLR was introduced.

    Granted, the current SLR is a disappointment, since it's more a super SL65 than a bonafide supercar. The new convertible does look sexy, though.

    You mean the SL55, since the SL65 has a more advanced engine than the SLR!

    I do not know why but, current Mercedes models, specially CL(in 63 AMG version) are very popular amoung known criminals and drug dealers here...

    I believe this is the forthcoming SLC super car. Fixed roof black edition SL if you like. It's one of the fastest production cars ever if you believe some of the stuff on the internet. Will be interesting to see.
