Nick look!
I bought ANOTHER car that's not black!
$128k US, 38k miles. Think I got a pretty nice deal on the price for sure. Clean history on the car also.
And before someone asked, the car in the background is a 63 356B 1600 S, but with a mis-matched engine. One reason I didn't buy it.

Gnil:Congrats Whoopsy ! Nice looking car even if I always find those speedster to look slightly strange in proportions .
The price seems extremely good !! What is the asking price or you managed a MAJOR discount ?
It was sitting there for the longest time with an asking price of around 162k US.
Recently they dropped it to 138k US, and I have managed to knock another 10k off that. (buying a summer car in the middle of winter with dreadful weather )

SportCarGroup:Woooaaw!!! Both cars are pure art, but the 964 as it looks on the pictures - perfection!!
Congrats on your purchase! The car look stunning Do you have pics of it with the top off?

Sorry I don't have any from myself yet. I swiped some off the dealer's website.
While at frist glance it looked extremely clean, I am still gonna send it to my foreman for a once over, new fluids etc. Probably new tires too. Also gonna put back the original exhaust. It has an aftermarket one on right now, but the previous owner kept the originals. Save me a lot of headaches to find OEM exhaust.
Not in a hurry to drive it as the weather is REALLY bad! And the top don't really work to keep out the rain anyway.
Adorable.
As Leawood said, I also loved that car when it was new and love it still. For me the best of the "new" Speedsters out there.
BTW, aftermarket exhaust?
EDIT: You've just answered my question.

That what reflects what I think about the market . The cars are way overpriced and do not sell .

Whoopsy:
Congrats...you just became a collector.
Are you getting the new Speedster as well? Is this some sort of hint?

Nick, I am shocked. My world has turned upside down. You have broken out from the dull and understated into a world of vibrant colors. What’s gotten into you. Are you really Nick?
i applaud your new acquisition. It’s sexy, unique and an attention getter. Congratulations!
You have your way. I have my way. As for the correct way and the only way, it does not exist.
blueflame:Congrats - very nice.
Does ist have the 231HP Engine oder the 217HP US-Engine?
Friend of me had SOME years ago, one of the narrow body Speedsters in red an sold it in the 1990th for 45K DM...;-)
Blueflame
It's an American car So yeah it got the weaker American engine.
The narrow body were never sold on this side of the pond. Can't find them either as the collectors don't let them go.

This car, like the Turbo 3.6, mesmerized me when they first came out.
I was still a kid and worship car magazines. Wanted a 89 930 Turbo too, but those things are still a bit strong on pricing.
Found a black Speedster locally too, being local since new, so that was a 1 of 17 original Canadian car, but that one had been in a couple accidents. So I have to settle for a red one. Beggars can't be choosers. But then again a Guards Red Speedster is quite iconic.
Porker:Cool addition, congrats!
Isn't that 993 Speedster actually a 964 underneath?

Nope, it's a proper 993.

Congratulations ! The G Speedster is a special car. The low windshield makes open air motoring very enjoyable (much more than in a standard Cabriolet) and is a distinctive feature of the Speedsters (for that matter it was also in the 356). There is a great book about the 911 Speedsters (G,964, 993,997) written by Andreas Gabriel with plenty of background on the development of the G Speedster; the book is called "Porsche Speedster - Legends Live Forever 1989 - 2011". Originally the Speedster was supposed to be built only in the Slim version (Schmalversion) but due to the request from the US market the Turbo look version was developed, but then they had to build also a limited number of Slim ones due to the Austrian dealers whom committed 40 orders for the car, resulting the with a final number of ~170 Slim Speedsters produced.
Never mind guys, I had an inspection done on the car and it didn't pass, so I passed on the car.
At first glance the car looks good, but upon closer inspection the car had been in accident(s) that wasn't disclosed nor repaired properly. The one of the headlights is out of alignment slightly due to the fender being bend a little bit, and the rear fenders were heavily bondo-ed, I can see the dents from underneath.
It will cost me too much to stripe it and redo all the repairs properly. Not worth my time an effort.
So the search continues..............
