    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

OK, interesting. My garage is fine (space is 4m wide :-) but yes, the car did strike me as wide. Will have to look up the specs and see how it drives. I prefer my cars small if I’m honest.

certainly true, but the width makes the looks::::))) anyway, the 488 is certainly not wider than an E series mere or a 5 series BMW:::))))

The 488 is a great product, but the 720S is better.

    Not necessarily so. Smiley
The design of the 720S is not bad at all, especially if you compare it to all McLaren that were before (except the F1). Only thing getting used to are the headlights, but the front of the 488 is no design master piece as well.
In fact you will find a spot or a corner at nearly each (sports)car, that's less than perfect. But in case of 488 versus 720S one could even argue, the 720 will age better.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

IMO the 488 looks ordinary next to the 720

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

The 488 was en evolution of the 458 design, it is now pretty old and still looks great. The 720S is just more fresh and modern.

well, i just find all the mclarens totally ugly. they have no sensuality in their design, exterior and interior. unless you like batmobiles.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

If money is taken out of the equation, the 720S wins hands down over the 488.

I like the cockpit of the 720S better, styling wise neither is pretty, but the 720S seems to be less ugly from rear 3/4 view. The 488 looks dated already all around, but at least it is less ugly from the front view.

I think I also like the seats in the McLaren better, for my body profile, over the Ferrari seats.

BUT, money IS an issue. Even for the rich, losing 100k at a time still hurts. In that regards, the 488 got a major brownie point on it's side.

So a 720S will be a great buy in a year or 2 when the first guy took the big hit in depreciation.

Yes  - I think we have known that for some time. Still does not change the fact that the 720S is currently the class leader.

supercar ownership has to do with form, esthetics, style and not only outright speed, g-forces and lap times.  if you discard the former three issues than the 720 is the class leader, it does the later three better.

Except that design appreciation is subjective, being top performer is not...

OK, I'll bite. I think I know a thing or two about supercar ownership Smiley. I also happen to be a huge Ferrarista. I have said time and time again that car selection is, and should continue to be, a subjectively driven activity. Having said all that, the 720S is currently top dog as a package. Oh, and BTW, the 458 is better looking than the 488.

    By far. Smiley

I think this is something quite typical for Ferrari. They present a great new design and have to change it for the facelift, when they rise the engine power. And most of the time this facelift looks worse than the original product. This has been the case for the Modena versus the F430 and for the Italia versus the 488. Just in case of the F355 it's the opposite IMO. But the F355 is a car with perfect design, no angle from which thist car doesn't look good.

I also find the F12 better looking than the 812 Superfast by the way. Smiley

i share your opinion on 458-488GTB, except maybe the mustache front of the 458, which i never liked. the esthetics king is the 458 speciale for me.

    Re: 488 GTB/GTS

bummer. my dealer just called me and said that my 488 GTO will be one of the last cars to be built, spring/summer 2020. too late for me and i am getting close to cancelling my order. letdown.....but what to do? keep the GT3RS or get a 488GTB right away. problem is that the GTB successor (with KERS) will come in 2020....i could get an 812 superfast in late 2019....

Kreso, thanks but i checked today with my PZ. too late for the GT3RS.2, they have many more precontracts than cars they will receive. so it is keep the GT3RS.1 or get the 488GTB ..... in 2020 the GTB successor will come out though.

please no mclaren, no audi. huracan was vetoed by my wife, too small trunk (not good for weekends away). in the end it is 488GTB, 812 superfast (guaranteed by the dealer for 2019) or keep the RS and see what happens along the way

To be honest: If I had the chance to get a 488 GTO in 2020, I would get it.

Or the Superfast in 2019, probably even better since this car is going to be a real collectible sooner or later. I am quite positive that this is going to be the last 12-cyl. n/a engine from Ferrari in a series production car.
