    Elise

But it's still a lot lighter than the Porky Boy 997...

Well, since a Porsche Turbo weighs about 80% more than an Elise, I'm not sure how you can say that...

    Re: Precisely!

okay, my $0.02 on this particular off-topic topic.

The Elise and the 997 are different cars, period. People buy them for different reasons. Like everything in life, it's a compromise and at the end of the day it's up to the driver as to which is the better car. I mean, while people complain about the luggage capacity on a 997, a packet of cigarettes is considered luggage in an Elise.

The Elise/Exige are lovely cars and Lotus has done a really good job. But I'd rather not use them on a daily basis whereas I could very easily imagine using a TT everyday. Each manufacturer have their own set of compromises, and that goes witih he brand so it's equally silly, imo, to hope for Lotus to make a Porsche-like Lotus as to hope for Porsche to make a Lotus-like Porsche.

Incidentally, if you really want a light-weight special, wouldn't the GT3, GT3RS or even the GT2 work?

If there was a large market worlwide for Elise type of cars, Porsche could come up with something even better. It wouldn't take them more than a week to do it.
Look at the financial state of Lotus to see how viable their product is.

    Re: Precisely!

You guys are missing the point. the inital comments was that Lotus build lighter cars. true. my first Elise weighted ~750kg and had 120PS. Now they weigh closer to 950kg but have ~190PS (of course you can supercarge them). My GT3 weighs 1400kg but has also 415PS. Combine the two and you have a great car...

Now that would be a car with 2,150 kg weight and 605 hp
    Just kidding

all lotus with that 10yrs old alum chassis is underpower imo, that's why i dont feel the car is that light as they claim. their weight increasing is way ahead their hp/t increasing. however the steering feel is still one of the best.

sure the turbo is heavier, but the hp is more than enough to cover that. not to mention all those aftermarket improvement.

    190hp vs 480hp

I don't remember you saying Lotus doesn't produce a powerful car

For those who think that you can compensate for adding weight by adding more power, this is simply not true. The driving experience is vastly different.

i know what you mean, but most elise/exige are over 1000kg with only 190hp and no torque at all, i dont think the car feel light, nothing like a go-kart anymore.

and have a look on their nre cars, they re adding weight by adding more power like you said.

Thanks for posting the link. It's a pretty good video of the Turbo 997 Mk II with a quite good picture quality. I like it very much!

    Greetings

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Looks good on the wide U-Tube screen
Hey, am I the only one that's surprised that they would allow leaks of the 'lift' on the Turbo? ......(assume for possible 09)

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    Hi!

Here are two new pics, but they seem to be pretty old, because the mule don't has the facelifted / modified mirrors!

    Enjoy them!

    Greetings

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    LOL Merry Christmas!

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    No pics of interior?

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Sorry, no interior pics and I don't think that there will be major changes.

But here are two facelift pics of the 997 Targa 4.

    Greetings

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

...and here the second one for today... enjoy them!

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

    nice find .

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

Thanks for the nice pics. The rear looks great. More dynamic and agile than the current 997. The row of LED'a look good. As seen on some of the Audis. Provides for a modern look. I wonder if this is the final version of the taillights. What's with the square red plastic things?

What a challenge to evolve 911... This time I do not think the designers have lost it. We'll see what the next 911 brings. Might be something more revolutionary and less appealing.

    No real venturi effect

Sad to see that the tail pipe/rear bumper design is all fake - there's no diffuser, so no proper venturi effect. I guess we'll be getting fake vents in the fenders next...come to think of it the 996 C4S had those...

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

The rims look wierd, but besides that the car is sweet!

Re: HOT: Pictures from Facelift 997!!!!

they are the standard 19" carrera S wheels..

Euro regulations! You can only hope that US buyers will be spared.
