Isn't that Carmon Red in the emissions test photo? Can we assume that will be a new standard color offering? My last 996 was Slate Grey and while I wasn't all that happy about the upcharge for the "special" color...after delivery I felt it was worth every penny. I like seal gray but there was just something about slate that really grabbed me. Every time I see a Mercedes in Tectite Grey I love it too!
BUT! Now that I see Carmon Red on the 997 I'm really torn!!! What do I do?? RC - Any details on new color options for the 997?

I'm afraid I don't know much more than you do.
The car in the picture is a prototype, so it is difficult to say if this color will make it to the final product.
I might get a few color samples in two weeks or so but til then, maybe somebody else has better information on color options.

It is indeed a tough job. I always thought it is fun and of course it can be (sometimes) but they don't just drive around and wait for something to go wrong (or not), they have a certain amount of testing procedures (certain speeds, certain rpm figures, certain temperatures, etc. etc. etc.) and it can get very boring.
But for us who don't get the chance to be there, it seems like heaven.
