I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

to these 2 wheels from Champion. I want to order them soon so that I can have them put on my car right away the day it's delivered so I need to make a decision. I'm going w/ 19's, I want to improve the look of the car but I don't want to sacrifice handling/ feel. I thought of doing 20's but for the type of driving I do (everyday commuting) 20's wouldn't make sense.

So which wheel would you choose? It's for a Basalt Turbo Cab w/ PCCB's...

    These (Chris's Turbo):

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

    Or these (171's)

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

    Gregg,
    May I ask-why aftermarket wheels?

They all look pretty ricer-like IMHO...
If you need another wheels choose GT3RS wheels like Jason did. They look nicelly IMO. But, IMHO original wheels looks the best on 997 Turbo.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

of the two pictured i prefer the first because of the profile of the spokes...i guess visually more interesting without looking overly busy like the stock wheels

Hard to explain why I like the way it looks, just do.

I've had a love, hate w/ the turbo wheels at first didn't like the way they looked at all but then they grew on me but the last few months, the more I see them the more I dislike the way they look, right now I pretty much can't stand them. Usually w/ factory stuff (wheels, design, etc.) I would almost always prefer the stock look but the turbo wheels are really buggin me.

    19's:

    Thanks.
Here's another pic of those, except these are 20's I believe.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

Here are the Magnesium versions of the 171's.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

I really like the RF67 wheels. I'd suggest going with those. They fit the 997TT lines better I think.

Looks cool right? Dun no, like the way it looks but don't know if I would want to own a Black car w/ black rims.... $10k for those wheels.

Crash - Hit the attachment and look at the pic at 100% size.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

I think these are the best ones available:

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Se

I'd go with the 171's since they look easier to clean - less ridges on the spokes

I'm favoring the 171 too. Agree they look easier to clean but I like the spoke design a little better, instead of 10 of the same spokes, they have got that alternating thing going on. (don't know the word for it, if there is one)

    Yup, still loving them!

Perhaps you could just get the standard 171's and have them painted black. In any case, should you decide not to go with black wheels, I think the regular 171's look good as well.
Having black wheels on a black car is what the Germans would call a "Geschmackssache", a matter of taste. I personally think it looks awesome, but it makes sense that not everyone does.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

And an example of the 171's on a black Turbo:

    Yup....

    Best looking by far IMO

Actually, on closer inspection it looks like Cargraphic uses Champions

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

    I don't think so.

You don't like, or you don't think Cargraphic use Champions?!

If the latter, the PDF link says otherwise

    171

    Stradale,

will look at this thread once more tomorrow, when I am sober .

Initially appreciate both versions, the later (171) having a more interesting spoke pattern and, being visually less nervous, more appropriate for the sleek surfaces of the 997 Turbo. If they don't come with any drawbacks compared to the OEM ones (rotation, weight, sturdiness) I see no reason to ignore them. Be cautious with those magnesium wheels.

Don't like. They just look too bland.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

No issues cleaning my wheels (PCCB helps). Put TA springs on last week and they look even better now that the car is a bit lower. I'll post pics when I take some new ones.

Re: I think I've narrowed my After-Market Wheel Search

The 171 wheels look the most similar to the RS wheels that I have and dare I say they're a bit artistic too. You can't go wrong with either the 67 or the 171. I like both. But I like the 67's better. Love the center taper design.
