Chill out people.
This is the standard timing procedure.
All sport auto times are timed EXACTLY like this lap, therefore Nissan's lap is perfectly comparable.
Nobody is talking about the procedure, but about the time itself. 7:38 for a car that weighs as much as a large sedan with only 480 bhp just seems too fast and that goes for any marque.
Okey, now about the hp.
Let's say the past GT-R34, factory stated 280hp, but the real figure is around 3XXhp. Just like the GT3, that isn't just 415hp either.
I hope you know what I mean.
I know what you mean and it is plausible, but it would need 100 more bhp to match that time with its weight. In any case, let's just wait until Sport Auto tests it and save our speculations until then.
It doesn't seem plausible that this new GT-R is hitting 62MPH in 3.6 seconds. Or The standing quarter in 11.7 seconds. But these are the figures Nissan are claiming. And I for one believe them.
In pure acceleration terms that puts it slightly over the 997 turbo. Yet with more weight, less power and less torque! Imrobable, yet they have engineered it so!
Thus, why should it be impossible for it to lap the ring quicker?
...MAd
P.S. As for all the talk of cars with higher power than stated. Most of it is idle boasting by those wanting more power. The Skyline R34 GTR had 280PS. Only 280PS. It dynoed at 280PS (give or take a couple of PS). And Yes. It did give 330-340 with a mere 10 minutes of work. But Nissan didn't lie about its standard power output.
