    LOL. I love to mention the following regarding heated seats.

    If my current wife or GF is having a PMS "event," I secretly turn on her heated seat. After a few minutes she's quietly sleeping.

    Definitely get heated seats. Ironically, to NOT have..., _heated_..., seats can be..., _Hell_.

    Any one know how much heavier the ASS are over the standard sports seats?

    I think the seat has to be a personal preference. I have the sports seats and having had to live with loaner cars without them, I would always order sports seats in future Pcars.

    I agree...try them both. I've got the "ASS", and I'm very happy with the comfort, adjustments and lateral support ( 6'6", 245lbs, and now as lean and mean as our throt/Bruce Lee ).

    You will want the heated seats!

    According to Porsche the adaptive sports seats are each 4 kg heavier than the standard sports seats.

    Not essential. Its CRITICAL to try them at a dealer before ordering. Aside from the electrically or manually adjustable variants of each seat there is a fundamental difference between the STANDARD(aka Comfort) and the SPORT seats, and that is the side bolsters at the hips and shoulders.

    The sport seats are narrower there, or should I say, more supportive, but restricting. If your shoulders are wide, the sport seat will push your shoulders inward. It just did not feel comfortable to me, so there is no way I could drive hours that way.... so the standard (comfort) seat was the only way to go.

    Then, deciding between the manual or fully electric variant is a personal choice. I went with the electric to get the lumbar support adjustment.

    The memory feature and other electrical adjustments are nice for picking up after a mechanic visit, but not really needed.

    You may be confusing the 997 Sport Seats with the 996 Sport seats. 996 version WAS a pain in the upper back and shouders for many.

    997 re-design of SS has had no similar complaints AFAIK. There had been no complains that I can remember. Unless you're an extreme build... .

    I've got the standard seats on my 987S and absolutely love them. They fit perfectly and I don't feel I need any extra lateral support. They are firm enough but comfortable over long trips. There is absolutely no wear whatsoever over almost 3 years of daily use with the stardard seats but I do the "butt in first then rotate the legs into the car" technique which helps keep the seats looking new

    Good point. Avoid bolster wear!

    In my left hand drive (non-English) car: I put my left hand behind me and run it along the bolster as I get my rear end lowered in. The only thing that lightly follows against the bolster is my left hand.

    Most guys use their left back pants pocket as a piece of "sandpaper" as they ride the bolster down.

    Goal: not to wind up with an atrocity like this otherwise near-perfect Ferrari seat.

    Have the ASS. First time on a longer drive (5 hrs) I found them quite uncomfortable. This summer I drive all across Europe without any problem whatsoever. Must be that new seats are a bit stiff until broken in.

    Note that the bolsters in the ASS can be set wider than those in the regular SS. That's the main advantage of the ASS for me.

    This may sound weird but I think our rear ends have to get used to them too. The seats probably relax a bit but so do our bottoms.

    Same thing with my Bimmer seats, very hard firm cusions, my rear hurt, I thought I goofed in ordering them. A few weeks later they were great and it was all a distant memory.

    What can I tell you... all I know is the 997 Sport Seats (adjustable no less) I sat in, at the dealers about a month ago were to tight in the shoulders for my liking. It underscores the need for each individual to sit in the seats for themselves and see whats-what for their own body and comfort demands. I was not evaluating firmness of cushion, just where the bolsters hit on my body. Sport sets are not made for a 6'1" guy with wide shoulders, I guess.

    Adaptive sport seats are outstanding for right body type. I am 6'2 195 1bs and they are very comfortable even on long drives. Did 7 hours to montreal in two stints. A bit of numb bum but back and hips... OK. A friend who is same height but 40 lbs more than me suffers a bit in them. They can be a bit narrow and push shoulders foreward. As has been said many times...try them out first if you can.

    The standard seats work fine for me, even more so now that I lost a load of weight. But I would recommend getting the heated seats, as they make a drive a lot more comfortable when your back is sore or when you have a long distance to travel.

    i"m 6'2" and the adaptive sport seats pushed my shoulders forward even at the best setting. I strongly suggest you try them out like i did before you confirm your order. This you can do at any dealer without booking a test drive.

    It is really a matter of taste and individual comfort needs.
