Bought a muscle car...

Looking for a replacement for the ill-fated Alpina B3 I had bought last year, which blew up its engine at 70k km (admittedly Alpina replaced the engine at their cost). I couldn't get past Stuttgart's muscle car, the (real) C63. It's been a favorite of mine since it was launched, but never had the chance of driving one, until today.

Went for a drive with the seller and immediately went weak in the knees and bought it. This one is a Performance Package example, which adds a couple of hp (487), bigger brakes, stiffer suspension and most importantly, an LSD. Good as the current 4.0l V8 biturbo might be, the old 6.2l V8 in a C-Class is a thing to behold and it will never see its like again.

Very nice! I still remember having to move into the right lane on the Autobahn in my GT4 for one of those carrying a family of 5. Must've been going around 300kph...

Very nice car. I have driven these C/CLK types from standard AMG to Black Edition on road and track, and in my view the PP is right in the sweet spot.

Very good choice, not the best winter car but I guess you can (and will have to) live with it.

The last great 6.2 l n/a engine, amazing sound, you definetely made the right choice, congrats. The PP version (had the Coupe) is the icing on the cake, just be careful with your tire choices, car is very tire sensitive (Conti 5P seems to be the "best" one).

Great drifting car too...

Thanks, it's on Conti winters now, I can't imagine it being worse than our Alpina D3 (RWD + LSD) in the snow and that one copes very well. Coping in the sense that it gets uphill in snow albeit with loss of traction. Without LSD it's probably worse off.

Will keep in mind your advice for summers, always had good experience with Michelin SS too, but I don't know if they make these for the C63.

That's right. Maybe even better performance.

But probably the BS will keep its value better. Besides of that I like the body kit at the BS. It's more kind of a keeper.

I’m waiting for the C-class facelift (probably Geneva 2018) to scoop up a 2017 63s as a dd. Could score a good deal...

For that kind of money one could not even buy a base wathever Porsche....Let alone with a V8 with 500 hp. yes

One needs at least 500hp to get over that dash tablet thing with a bezel from the eighties, though...

True, the BS is more interesting from various points of view but the Edition 507 is really "cheap" and I may be wrong but I think that there are less Edition 507 on the market than BS versions. I almost got one (Ed. 507) when I was looking for a GT500 replacement, found one at 70k, almost new (only 3000 km) from a Mercedes dealer but decided against it because I remembered why I sold my C63 PP Coupe.

And it's debadged (at least at the rear), I might be mistaken by some for tuning a C200 CDI with quad exhausts but those that need to know will know. Smiley

I really wish Audi would sell the RS6 Avant in NA. That would be the ultimate DD for me, especially in the winter.

Doesn't handle as good as a sedan while not having as much utility as a SUV Smiley

I'm also more of a fan of an SUV, but European estates usually have more storage space than an SUV. In addition, with the same load the driving behavior should not differ from a sedan.

C class facelift comes in July as far as my sales guy told me, this is why we posponed the delivery of our C63 S Cabriolet to October, I wanted the facelift (digital dash, nicer looking "tablet", 520-530 hp, same exhaust sound).
