So how many MILLIONS of VW Beatles were made?

Lets see now, the VW Beatle was designed by a Porsche, First Beatle plant was supervised by a Porsche, Patents owned by a Porsche, Quack Quack Quack! Looks like a duck, swims like a duck (they made those also back then for the SS) it is a duck! Now that the Porsche family has finally regained control of VW 62 years after WW2 ended... We now have more Porsches being made than..Rabbits!

And what about all those $45K Cayenne trucks they sell!

Forget the luxo tiptronic 997 market, thats a bore, Porsche really needs to create a new durable utilitarian and fun Peoples Car!

A real enthusiast buys a specific car becuase he wants to DRIVE it, regardless of what others are driving or what they think of HIS ride.

Posers worry about how their brand is perceived by others and whether the brand is being diluted by the firm's other models. The car is just a vehicle for demonstrating status, not for the emotional satisfaction of driving.

Ask yourself, which kind of Porsche owner am I?

Some of you will try to squirm out of the question and say "can't I have both?" Sure, most of us get some satisfaction from both sides of the equation. But if Cayennes, Boxsters and Caymans bother you, then you're more poser than enthusiast.

You should be worried! Now They DO slap VW badges onto Porsches!

The most obvious recent slap fest is the Tuareg. Next the Audi A7..the rebadged Panamara!

And next will be the Tiguan! Expect a Porschejuan after Porsche lets VW marketing slap their "badge" first!

Porsche is slap happy, so watch out!

all this slap talk is quite depressing... I'm 40, and those of you in that age bracket now what I'm talking about... it used to be the testarossa, the countach, and the 930 turbo... in '82 (if remember right) i saw the launch of the carrera cab. at the paris auto show, it was something... owning one WAS a big deal... doesn't anyone feel the 911 is loosing some of its magic! I used to dream of owning that car, and now that I do, I can't wait to sell it... porsches are all over the road... and in all weird shapes and forms...

It's interesting who points out that Porsche is still exclusive.
It's all relative to your local demographics.

It's like saying a million dollar house is still exclusive. Where?!? I'm sure if I lived in Oklahoma or Kentucky I'd probably also think that was the case. Not true anymore for any of the major metros across the country.
I spent my youth in Indiana. Therefore I didn't see the number of Euro cars growing up as I have living out my days in Southern California. But go back 10-15 years and Porsches were nearly as exclusive as some of their Italian brethren.

Maybe I'm just ranting, but I prefer to see Porsche focus on 3 or 4 lines of cars. Not move in the direction of lets say Mercedes, where they have something like 10. I'd rather Porsche focus on the core. I've seen companies try to expand their core and get burned. But, I still love Porsche and will stick with them.

When I was young, making $100k would be like being rich. I remember when going into college in '85, hoping to make about $50k a year was something to be happy about! Nowadays, who can live with that and have a toy or two?

But who thinks the 911 would be much better if Porsche did not make the Cayenne, or the Boxster, or the Cayman?

And reg. "exclusivity", when Porsche makes a limited series like the GT3 Rs, everyone bitches 'cause they trade above MSRP in the secondary mkt and they can't get one...
