    Shelby Aero TT Passes Bugatti Veyron Vmax

    And officially is now the fastest production car in the world. Twin Turbo V8 with 1,183hp.



    Driver Chuck Bigelow, 71, took SSC's Ultimate Aero for two passes on highway 221 in Washington state, the first at 257.45 mph, the second at 254.92 mph, for an official record speed of 256.19 mph. That supersedes the Bugatti Veyron's still-unofficial time of 254 mph, as noted by Car and Driver and Top Gear's James May.

    Very, very, and very fugly. I wonder how this fugly car corners and reliability. It sure fast though.

    You guys are calling this ugly? It looks almost exactly like a Lambo Diablo. Unoriginal but not ugly.

    The Bugatti, with it's bloated audi TT appearance, now THAT's ugly.

    Don't care how fast it is, but this is an ugly car. Even in the eighties (which had some really bad designs), this car would have been ugly...

    Yes, it does look like a Diablo, but it's NOWHERE near as beautiful. Aside from that, hats off to them.

    Okay, the headlights are different.

    You guys are always hating on American Iron. Did you know that they can probably get another couple hundred hp and not risk reliability.

    BTW, the grenade comments here are all in your imagination. The chevy sb (small block) has been proven on the streets up to hp levels much higher here in the US. And it's much smaller and lighter than current 4v engines, oh yeah, and less expensive. And before you start your comments about quality, aluminum and steel are still the same aluminum and steel no matter if its ferrari, porsche, ford, or chevy is doing the molten pooring. What matters is machining and assembly, oops, sorry BMW.

    It looks better that Bugatti. Bugatti is the ugliest sports car for the money, not to mention the two tone color
