    2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

Are they any different between them?
    PASM is different?
    Anything else?

Supposedly, the resonance from the open sunroof is gone.

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

don't think i can feel the difference...

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

There must be something different in the engines, maybe not significant, but I don't think the X51 Powerkit is retro-fittable to a 2005 model. Therefore, there must be something different in both models for that to be so. I don't believe it will affect performance, as Porsche issued exactly the same performance figures for both models, but there is a reason why the Powerkit is not - as far as I know - retro-fittable to that year.

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

2006 comes with TPMS as a us$600 option.

Back-of-seat pouches are gone in 2006

Sunroof is noisy as heck in 2006, if it's "improved" 2005 sunroof must be sheer hell.

Obvious: Though many of them should have appeared and been fixed by now for existing 05s, new model glitches might be fewer in number for 06. If I wanted to keep car a long time I'd feel _slightly_ better owning an 06.

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

Also 2006 got advanced airbags (weight sensing), diff nav headunit I believe, and some time in 05 production the in dash CD could play MP3s

For answers follow the link to old thread: what are the changes between 05 & 06 997?

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

thank so much for the links. I was trying to find it for 30 min....
The 2005 S with all loaded include ceramic brake is for sale $70000 with 16k miles.
The 2006 S with moderate options is for sale $80000 with 10k miles.....

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

Ceramic brakes didn't changed at all. Still very expensive. Get that car if you intend to keep the car just a year or two. If you want to keep it more, take the steel brakes.

Maintanace of PCCB is more expensive compared with the steel ones.

Given that you likely will never wear out the rotors and the pads will last 100K on the street it will be much cheaper to have the PCCB, not to mention the increased agility and performance! Love those brakes. Also, it sounds like he is looking at one of the 05 launch cars (black/black) - talk about loaded - Adaptive sport seats, Nav, Sport Chrono, Full leather interior, dimming mirrors, PCCB, etc. Those cars listed for 100K - they are fully loaded. I would get it rather than the stripped down 06 and save the 10K. That's what I did. I love my launch edition 997S. Enjoy!

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

    thank you
How much to replace the rotors and pads for ceramic breaks?
    (in US)

The only reason you would likely need a rotor is if one got damaged. But, to answer your question, I believe rotors and pads are close to $5k per corner.

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

So you can save your 10K just in case you damage two rotors

Now, really, take the PCCB car. It's a good opportunity for you to see if you like them. Same goes for the options. For example I have the adaptive seats and I would never ever order them again (personally choice, ok?). The seats are superb don't get me wrong, but hugely overpriced for what they do. Next time the standard sport seats will be enough for me and I could use the money for something else.

Nope. It's the other way around.

W/ steel Porsche rec. changing steel rotors w/ every pad change, so you have to replace pads AND rotors. Even if you only use 50% of the pads then you at least need to change rotors w/ EVERY OTHER pad change as some guys do...........W/ PCCB's the rotors should go 150k miles + without needing a change so unless you're planning on keeping the car way above 100k miles "Maintenance" over the course of 1,2,3,4, 5 yrs plus will end up costing less w/ PCCB's then steel. You probably wont ever get your $8800k (cost for PCCB's) back but plan on spending more for the maintenance of steel brakes than Carbon Ceramic. Of course someone will bring up the cost of a PCCB rotor but I doubt even 1 in 100 people will break a rotor & need to change so imo it's not a big consideration but agree should be known.

I've had both types of brakes & will tell you I will never own another steel brake Porsche. Or Ferrari.

Re: 2005 CS Vs 2006 CS

What I had in mind was a rotor change. He is buying a used car. We don't know how good the previous owner took care of the car.

And IMO, only if you keep your car 5 years OR you drive it hard a LOT, the PCCB makes sense and the total maintanance cost will be less for PCCB. If I am driving just 10.000 miles per year and I keep the car around two years (no track time), I don't believe PCCB makes sense. But enough about it. This is one of those discussions that never end ...
