Mods for my 997 Cab S
I just got my dream car. A brand new arctic silver 2007 997 Cab 'S'. It's got Bose Surround Sound, power seat package, 19' rims, and very few other expensive options. I wish I got the Sports Chrono Package, but I couldn't wait for one that had it, and didn't have some $4,000 upgraded leather, or other options that I'd never appreciate.
I drive it aggressively in the canyons on Sunday mornings, with all the other L.A. nutcases, and I want a few more ponies out of the motor. I don't drive it daily, or sit in traffic or use it to buy groceries, or run errands. It's covered in the garage, except when I'm using it to drive very fast.
I looked into changing the exhaust, putting in a new intake tract, that replaces the airbox with a cone, and possibly a chip. If I'm to believe the claimed horsepower increases these parts advertise, I'd get about 50 horsepower, but I don't believe there would be that big of a gain.
I did these exact mods on my old 97 993 cab, and there was an improvement in power, and sound. It was noticeable, but the check engine light was on all the time.
Anyone done any of these mods? Any input? The X51 option was way overpriced. 17grand. I could put a different engine in the thing for that kind of money. I don't want to mess with it too much, because it's pretty good right now, but I'd like better sound, and a some more power, so I can keep up with that z06 vette that smoked me last sunday.
I used to beef up mustanges before I could afford porsches, it was easy, and cheap. This is a bit different.
