How do I get an update for my navigation?
How do I go about getting a new, updated DVD? Is that something that you can just request from a dealer or do you have to buy it?

I can't just get a new DVD?
What needs to be installed for Part number 000 044 900 89 ?
Where do I look it up and order it?

I wonder what installation cost? All they have to do is put the DVD in the NAV unit in the trunk. Is there something else?

The part number is the DVD disc. Try http://www.sunsetimports.com - they have very good prices.

Really, that's very good to know. And since I have a MY2005, I can pay them $199 and get an updated DVD.... I wonder if it does anything else besides just have more roads on it? Because I really don't drive the car that much and certainly not long distance, so if it just has a few new housing developments that were built since 2005, it may not be of much use to me..... ? And I wonder how much better the version 2.1 update with the new DVD is?
Thanks for finding this stuff out Phil!!!

I finally bought the navigation update for my 2005 Cayenne yesterday (the upgrade for 2005 997's is similar). I was told that it was simply a new DVD navigation disk, but it also includes a CD disk to update your PCM from version 2.1a to 2.1b. There are several warnings on the package that only a Porsche dealership should handle the PCM update. I happened to talk my dealer into doing it for free, but the Porsche TSB (9/05 9110)for this shows that they charge "70 time units" for this procedure. It is a relatively simple procedure that you could do yourself.
After you update your PCM you can then install the new nav DVD. Do not operate the updated system with the old nav disk, it can goof things up. Also, do not try to use the new nav disk if you have not updated the PCM version.
I haven't had much chance to use it yet, but the maps appear much more detailed.
It cost me $198.00 for the disks.

Do you still have the update disk, would you like to sell them or upload them for all the member to share?
