    Anyone looking for a nearly brand new GT3?

    Because of an extended work assignment abroad, I am attmepting to sell my nearly brand-new GT3.


    2007 Porsche GT3 - Only 700 miles. In pristine, brand new condition. Garaged. Covered. No track. No racing. No redline. Gentle break not yet completed.

    The sad thing is the car would sit in my garage for about six months of 2008. It should be driven by someone who loves Porsches. In other words, it needs to find a good home. I wish I could drive it more myself. It's a super car. Maybe I'll get another one in the years ahead. We'll see.

    Chipper--good luck with the sale. I suppose the Hawaii location puts off some sales potential but as you mention, it's only $1000 by shipper back to the continental USA. If I had a spare $130K sitting around I would snap it up. You have all the right options on it.

    Gear Level Trim Leather ?

    Does this mean some of the alcantara was repalced with leather?

    why the 2 non OEM tires?

    Have I got this right? The car is second hand, at a 'remote' location, and you're asking 10,000 over MSRP?

    The car is essentially brand new. In these parts, dealers I'm told are selling them new at $10k over. I know of one dealer who sold a USED GT3--really used that needed new tires and new spoiler--for over the NEW msrp. In other words, paying more than new for a used car.

    All I'm asking for my GT3 is to get my money out. No profit whatsoever. The means sticker price plus taxes and fees. Otherwise, I'll keep the car and store it. Anyone interested, please let me know. I'll gladly tell you my bottom line, which is, again, simply my cost.

    The shift level trim sits in front of the shifter. It's a small plastic trim piece. Mine is covered in natural leather dark grey and also stitched.

    Lots of "very interested" potential buyers. A few offers to trade in late model Porsches for the GT3, but no acceptable offer yet. The GT3 is still available, still garaged and covered waiting for its new owner. Still looking for a good home.

    Thanks for the thought. Hawaii's not especially a great place for a GT3. There's no track. Max speed limit is 60. And there are few places, except one stretch of isolated freeway where you can go much faster than that. There's a law here, where if you're caught racing, both cars are immediately confuscated. So you've got to think twice about a road race.

    A friend who lives in Hawaii also tells me that it's considered a felony if you're caught speeding above 80.

    And they took away our only track on O'ahu. There's no legal place anymore for people to drive fast, and the state is unmotivated to invest in a new motorsport facility.

    But then the good thing about Hawaii is that pre-owned Porsches typically have very few miles, compared to the mainland. For example, I looked at an '06 Carerra S with only 3k miles, and in pristine condition. Oahu is only 46 miles long, so we're you gonna drive?

    Having lived on an island for some years, no matter how beautiful it could be, I just couldn't go back to that ever again! I need to be in a continent.

    Some people get "rock fever." I never did. It all depends on the person. But I understand what you mean. I've gotten used to the small scale of Hawaii, so now when I fly into a city like LA I get totally blown away by the immensity of it, just sprawling on and on for mile after mile.

    We have some breathtaking drives here. You just can't go 150 mph!

    I lived in San Juan from 1993 until 1999 and the island is 3500 square miles. It would actually be much bigger than that if you were to flatten out the almost completely mountainous terrain. Nevertheless, knowing that, to go anywhere else but the island means you need to get on a plane, really puts everything into perspective. That also goes along with what one can call an "insular mentality" for people that have never travelled anywhere else. Back when I lived there, you could really obviate any speed limit signs and just drive at any speed you cared for since the police did not have the equipment or the motivation to go after a speeding Porsche (at <$1000 a month salary, it's something understandable) and tickets were $25 for moving violations no matter how fast you drove. Also, on the 1984 Targa I used there, you had to be crazy to drive over 120 mph for fear of going airborne on an undulating surface since the highways are ways below the standard of say I-95 in Florida, for example. That, potholes and the possibility of stray cattle or a wandering truck driver swerving onto your lane really put the limit on the speed attainable. But, hey, at least you didn't get reprimanded harshly by the law! That must be a plus!

    Yes, island driving is different. While we can't drive very fast here, we do have some beautiful drives. Dramatic coastlines, majestic, mist shrouded mountains, that sort of thing. And of course the temperature rarely falls below about 75 degrees F.

    One can't complain too much.
