    GT3 Aftermarket Performance Parts (More Power)

    I'm desperately trying to decide between a GT3 and Turbo. I love the sound of the GT3 and love the power of the Turbo. However, I'd like to add an additional 50 to 70 horsepower to the stock engine of the GT3 if I decide to go that route. In essence, I'd like the stock HP of the Turbo in the GT3 chassis. If these power levels are attainable in the GT3 (which I'm sure they are), what would be the cost associated with the modifications? Would it be above or below $10K?

    Your insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Get a GT2...

    The GT3 motor is a highly stressed racing motor. There is very little power left on the table by Porsche and adding any significant amount will cost WAY more than $10k. You can't add power to a GT3 the way you can to a turbocharged car.

    If your only preference for the GT3 over the Turbo has to do with its sound, maybe you should just buy a Turbo and add an aftermarket exhaust...

    A turbo will never sound like a N/A car, no matter what exhaust you fit on it.

    If you can't get the GT2, and crave for more HP and mods, get the Z06...

    True, but a GT3 will never have the power/torque characteristics of a Turbo - you need to pick your poison

    All good points gentlemen. However, I've already owned a C6 Corvette, hated it! I now own a MB CL55 and love the power but can stand the size and weight of the car. If getting more power out of the GT3 is that much of an issue, than I guess a Turbo would be my best choice. Or I could opt for a Gallardo which has the power and the sound that I like.

    Is my reasoning (Sound and Power of a car) valid points for making my next vehicle purchase? I haven't even got to braking and handling yet! This is going to be a very difficult process. Has anyone had this same experience???

    I think the GT3 is the best car you are considering. I would recommend some track driving, so you can appreciate what it's like to drive a car like that on the edge (it has the reflexes and feedback that the others lack). It will make you forget all about the slight horsepower deficit compared to the others...

    the GT3 MKII should be released end 2008 as a 2009 model, with 435-440 bhp and maybe a sequential gearbox... it is going to be the sweetest thing on the planet... hold on for one more year, place your deposit, and wait... a year flies by like nothing :-)
