    PCCB: Heat dissipation

For those who have followed on my previous thread about the PCCB having soft pedals after hard use, I am now facing another interesting issue regarding the PCCB.

Based on the previous comments on how my OEM brake fluid got boiled, I went out and flushed my brake fluid with ATE Super Blue Racing. Last weekend, I took my car out to the usual back mountain roads and did another drive. The back roads consists of a combination of high speed 3rd gear corner and 2nd gear hairpins. For the first twenty minutes, my car was performing great. The acceleration and the braking power from the PCCB was just awesome. However, as I was driving, I came across some slower traffic and consequently, I was stuck behind traffic for about 5 minutes (@40-50km/h vs my normal 80-120km/h speed).

After I passed them and regain my usual pace, I noticed that my brake pedal were a little bit softer than before. After a few minutes on the clear roads (and still driving fast), my brake pedal pressure was back 100%.

Now, this has got me thinking, how well does the PCCB dissipate heat at low speed? Because it seems like my brake disc got hotter while following the slow traffic due to less air flow to cool them off. Once I got back up to speed and with fresh cooler air, they were back on form again.

Any suggestions on how I can improve this problem? Or is this something that I have to live with?

    Re: PCCB: Heat dissipation

I have noticed the same characteristics in my PCCB. This last weekend at Infineon was my second experience with slower driving = soft brakes, less traffic = better brakes. I thought I was the only one to boil brake fluid, only to have it 'come back'. Sorry, no answers here, just agreeing with your suspision. .

That said, I still love them compared to stock.

    Re: PCCB: Heat dissipation

interesting point neosky, never did experience that while using PCCB oversea (outside of Taiwan)... do keep us posted on your observations

Phew, and I thought I was the only one who experienced this........

Now........how do we solve this problem.........hmm........

    Re: PCCB: Heat dissipation

how about increasing air flow to the brake?

That's what I thought too, but I don't know how????

There seems to be a lot more "stuff" packed into the Turbo's front bumper than my previous car, (C4S with GT3 aero kit).

    Re: PCCB: Heat dissipation

i think you would try differnt wheels or maybe change entire new front bumper, but i would not go with the front bumper as it might be too extreme, I think it maybe the heat and humidity in here that is making the break hard to dissipate heat in low speed. what do you think neosky?

That might be it. I find this issue to be pretty interesting because I have never encountered such a problem before. Usually when I have bad brakes, they are just bad period.

I also noticed that my wheels tend to run very warm after a hard run. Maybe the stock wheels' cooling ability isn't up to par.

    Re: PCCB: Heat dissipation

well, good luck neosky, see you in the taipei street at times...

Here's some cool cooling info on the TT:
