Same repeating story at Mclaren.
We will make one limited car, and sell them out to you guys.
Then we will screw you over with releasing another one that tops it right after.
My buddy who ordered a Senna is extremely pissed right now with the GTR release.
I told him I told you so.
Whoopsy:My buddy who ordered a Senna is extremely pissed right now with the GTR release.
Which planet has he been living on. I know you like to single out McLaren, but recall Ferrari brought out the LaFerrari Aperta after the LaFerrari. Bugatti has just brought out a Chiron Sport.
Your friend is illogical.
The only reason you'd buy a Senna for the track is if you needed it to be road legal/usable to get to and from the track because you don't want to deal with a trailer. The GTR isn't usable for getting to/from the track, therefor it will need a trailer and is not relevant to your friend. If he was willing to use a trailer, then why the hell did he buy a road car for the track in the first place? It's not like the Senna was going to be competitive with real race cars on slicks...
Being mad about the Senna GTR would be like being mad about the 488 GTE or the 911 RSR.

He was a strong defender of McLaren till now, even when McLaren screwed him doing the 675 after he bought the 650, doing the 675 Spyder after he bough the 675, he just recently took delivery of a 720S after he bought a 570. In any car maker's eyes, this is a great customer that you don't screw over.
He was at the launch party in London a little while ago, he had asked a certain person who shall remain nameless specifically if there will be a GTR version coming out like the P1 did. He was told a DEFINITE no on the spot. But he was told about the expose carbon weave option before it was introduced, which he took on the spot.
He didn't believe me when I tell him about the hotter version that WILL come, cause he quoted what he was told at the launch party. Now he believed be completely.
For Ferrari and Porsche, if asked specifically about something like that, they won't lie straight out, they would just deflect/avoid answering. I have had those answers from both before.

Tell your friend to get a R8 V10 Plus, this is all the sportscar he is ever going to want/need.
Yes, your friend is right to be p.ss.d, like you said...if you ask Porsche, they deflect or say they don't know but they would never lie to your face. Probably has something to do with German business culture, which I still appreciate a lot.

noone1:Why did your friend buy a Senna in the first place? It's not going to be a fast track car.
Why would you say that? Seems pretty fast on track to me...

noone1:Because it's not a race car. If you want a car that will live solely on the track, you should buy a race car and call it a day. What's the point in spending $1M on a Senna when you could spend a fraction of that and buy a GT3 car?
First you said it wouldn't be fast and now you're saying it won't be good value. Two very different things...

noone1:I'll eat my hat if a Senna is anywhere near the speed of a GT3 race car, and not just for a single flying lap. The Senna is set up for the road.
For the typical buyer of the Senna, its track performance will be more than fast enough...

I doubt think the Senna will have the suspension, aero, or tires to compete with something even like a 650S GT3.
The Senna wears 245 tires up front. The 650S GT3 wears 315 I think, and the Senna GTR 325.
Like I said, it's illogical to be buy a Senna for track days and be upset about a Senna GTR. They're mutually exclusive.

And to add insult to injury, the next McLaren is already mentioned:

Porsche, separates Le Mans from Le Boys
noone1:That was announced a long time ago and sold out before it was even made public. They're only making 106 of them and there are theoretically 106 F1 owners, so needless to say, most were long since spoken for. Maybe Futch has one coming.
Ah ok... yeah, tbh, I am not on McLaren's list of people to call, so I miss out on these things every now and then :-D

BP23 is also more than double the price of a Senna.
