I don't know what the issue was but Im pretty sure its been addressed as there have already been two recalls on the Senna and McLaren was very interested in having them done as soon as possible (they sent a transporter to pick my Senna up).

    Where will it be serviced?

McLaren took care of this recall on my Senna a few weeks ago.  They said it was done as a precaution.

I just checked with them, it does not apply to the 720S Spider.

Smiley Smiley No, seriously. Every single Aventador owner I know (I know a couple of them...) has an illegal system installed. None of these systems is street legal and some of them seem to cause heat issues. I don't understand why an Aventador SV owner (or even a SVJ owner) needs to install an illegal and even louder exhaust system but... Smiley

Met a guy with a modded exhaust Performante last summer, the exhaust sounded incredibly loud but the sound was way more generic, not the typical V10 sound anymore. I hated it and it was very annoying (but extremely loud). Loudness isn't always everything, the sound needs to be nice as well.

    Re: P15/Senna

Brooks need to put Corsa back on his own 720S in order to have a fair comparison. Could also be Trofeo Rs as that's also an option tire from McLaren. As it stands, his car is definitely not STOCK. Far from it actually, since tire traction is the biggest difference maker and those 888R you can't get from McLaren. With such lax attitude towards what's stock, he is no better than the Carwow guys.

And McLaren also needs to redo their Launch Control sequence. Like seriously, how hard can it be to make it as simple as Porsche's system? Foot on brake, floor the gas, lift the brake and boom.

Hoosiers are drag tyres but Toyo R888R are also widley used on NBR so imho more a track tyre and i dont think there is much difference to a Trofeo R. The owner !? of the Senna didnt know how to launch and Brooks got only one run.

Brooks is very experienced with drag racing indeed.

He talked about it in the beginning of the video and also the onscreen graphics that the 720S is on 888R.

888R is grippier than Trofeo Rs.

On our track, people 'move up' to the 888Rs from Trofeo Rs. It is consider one step down from Hoosiers R7s.

Smiley I watched the video without sound in the office...thanks.

I'm not sure drag tires (radials) are stickier than the Trofeo R, drag slicks are certainly stickier, no doubt. I'm no expert though and tire tech has improved a lot over years.

Drag Radials from BFGoodrich is stickier than just about anything this side of racing slicks once heated up, i.e. burn outs. But those are discontinued already and I believe only Nitto have street legal drag racing tires. See below for image. The whole cheater block is one solid chunk of rubber for drag launches.

    Screen Shot 2020-10-19 at 8.04.44 AM.png

The Toyo 888R isn't a drag racing tire however. It's a autocross/circuit racing street legal tire. With stickier compound than Trofeo R. Advantage is that it doesn't take much to get the 888R into operating temperature. While it's still bad for wet weather, they are better than the street legal drag tires.

    Re: P15/Senna

I would say the Proxes RR would be more comparable to the dragrace tire, but like the Hoosiers they are just DOT rated slicks.

888R are easier to source than the Hoosier R7s so more popular on my track. Those Ariel Atoms are great on the Toyos.

Some Miatas run them also, but not many 'high price' cars i.e. Porsches Ferrari McLaren uses them at my track.

Actually come to think of it, the only time McLaren's are ran on our track is during McLaren corporate days doing lead and follow. Owners of them would rather bring their Porsche to the track.

We do get an odd 458 here and there once in a while.

    Re: P15/Senna

I'm sure the 888r also last longer. I always found it hard to get much more than a full day on the Hoosiers, if I got a weekend I'd be happy... That's one of the reasons I went to Dunlop slicks, they actually lasted longer (and were about 2-3 seconds faster at most of my tracks).

    Re: P15/Senna

Yes the 888R last quite a bit longer than R7 actually. Overall a very good track tire.

You tried Pirelli slicks? How's the difference in tire life? Never tried Dunlops.

Never done much time on Pirelli slicks outside of jumping into someone else's car. Spent enough time on Goodyear, Michelin and Dunlop. I find Dunlop the hardest and longest lasting, but have a feeling of being polished or over-inflated Michelin's the best and the Goodyears I've run tended towards gooiness as opposed to snappy which my father always liked but I was never as much a fan of.

I could pretty easily get a warm up, qualifying and 3 hour enduro out of a set up Dunlops and still enough left for a day of lapping if I didn't car about times on the lapping day. If I was just lapping I could probably get 3-4 days out of a set. But light cars and no downforce...
