Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Dark green, interesting.. I toyed with Dark Olive Metallic for my last Boxster. Cool colour - looks almost black in dull light, but really lights up in sunlight. It also has some bronze flakes which would look awesome with the gold wheels indecision

I was thinking more like this. I'm a big fan of colors like dark green, very dark red, dark purple -- all the least popular colors with bad resale ;)

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Club Blau and Maritime... not sure if Club Blau is possible as it was reserved for PCA 60th anniversary. It is a color that I've seen in person and is so beautiful and I think the closest blue to Maritime.

Humm. Imagine you 991.2 RS in viola. Would be amazing and so unique

There used to be a Golf 2 special edition in violet . Is it the same ?

Could be.. there was some overlap of colours around that time.  Viola seemed to feature on the 1993 964 C4 30th Anniversary cars.  Around the same time, VW was making Golf GTis in Oak green - which, as you know, was also a series 911 colour.

1978 Lindgrun metallic. If I was to spec a GT2 RS this would be the color (it is not on the approved PTS list though).

    Ok, now it’s done!smiley

PTS, special color on all text on the car (two sides, back and on the wing) and some more. Due to the PTS the built of the car was moved one month,to Mars, but that’s ok given the climate in Sweden that time of the year indecision.

I will  let the final decision be a cliff hanger until I post the pictures of my cari on this thread in end Mars/early April, but would  like to thank you all for all your input. Helped me a lot. Thanks !kiss

By the way, current price for PTS is 9.877 €......mail

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Depending on what paint you choose, that's pretty reasonable as far as PTS on exotic cars go. Ferrari would charge you probably $30K.

Speaking of paint, Ford has a really nice metallic blue that they use on one of their SUVs. Looks fantastic. Seen a few lately and think it would look excellent on an exotic.

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

I'm very simple and probably boring, Gt Silver and Black alcantara with Red stitching.

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

    Specced the car, August/September delivery.

    As mentioned before:

GT Silver, Black Alcantara with Red stitching, Suspension lift, Weissach Package, Red instruments, Chrono, Red marker on wheel, 26 g tank, Leather steering column (dislike that plastic stock thing).

    Now a long, long wait.......

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

How much is the Weissach package in the states? Since you don’t get the cage I guess it should be cheaper than in the rest of the world?cheeky

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Weissach Package is $31k, since lawyers rule this country and obviously don't like people to be safer, rollcage is out.

However, we get the Weissach logo on a cupholder!Smiley

Does Euro car get that too?

(heard it is an exclusive perk for US customers in lieu of the Titanium rollcage)Smiley

That is a  long wait ......... I would of thought the GT2 would be produced quicker as they have been presented since a few month already

There is a Weissach sign on the right hand side of the dashboard, but don’t know about any cup holderyes

But wow, what a super exchange..... NOT! Same price, rollcage out and you get a...... sign on the cup holder mail

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

But it is a "Special Limited Edition" logo on that cupholder, no other car will have it.

I can already imagine the warm feeling of satisfaction every time I put a drink in that thingSmiley......

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Unlike the Americans, we Canadians drive around with seat belts ON.

But alas, our cars are obeying DOT rules, so no roll cages for us with Weissach Pack.

The DOT law for no unpadded roll cages was because their 'study' deemed that most Americans drive around not wearing seat belts, hence in an accident they body and body parts might contact the unpadded hard surface of the roll cages and impact extra injury.

Clueless Americans, or better yet, clueless American lawyers and lawmakers.

Let Darwin's Law rule, if those people choose to not wearing seat belts, let them DIE.

Also, prosecute those liability lawyers, gives them death sentences if they loses.

These "Not my fault" mentality needed to change. IF one chooses to pay more attention to Navi system than the road, then it's not the fault of the car maker to OFFER a Navi system. Skip those useless warnings. IF one chooses to not wear a seat belt, it's not the fault of a car maker that design the interior for people who actually wears a seatbelt!

BMW was able to provide a rollbar with their latest M4 GTS in USA - why can't Porsche do whatever BMW did (did it receive padding or so?)?

    Doesn't look padded here:

Don't think US got the lightweight seats (that look like Recaro Pole Position) though...

I was  this '  ' close to buying one of those GTS cars. There was one sitting in the showroom at my BMW dealer a while ago.

I saw what BMW did with the roll cage. They pretty much zip tied a couple foam padding on the cage that the owner can remove in 2 seconds.

I asked Porsche about that specifically, at Goodwood when I saw AP and FSW during the launch of the GT2RS and the Turbo S Exclusive. They said they are not going to side step the law that way like BMW did. It is 'not safe'. They know I was from Canada and not the US and we are more responsible, but they said because our market are small, we are grouped with the Americans and the American laws prevented us from getting the best stuff.

I REALLY WANTED THE CAGE FOR MY GT2RS! But,

    That's the official answer.

It all comes down to the American government to do the right thing.

Re: Spec YOUR dream GT 2 RS

Um, I don't know a single American who drives without a seat belt.

Your view is short sighted. If it's thought that they don't wear a seat belt and that they might hit their head on the roll cage, then it means they would be more likely to lose control of the car during an accident. It's not like an accident completely stops your car dead in its tracks. You can still use brakes, steer, beep the horn, etc.

This could prove to be very bad. Imagine you hit a curb, you bounce in your seat hard, hit the roll bar with your head, are dazed and then the car continues to move straight and hits a person on the sidewalk. Had you not have hit your head, you maybe would have been capable of steering/braking/beeping the horn. Heck, maybe you can get out of your car and help someone else still.

This is why mandatory seat belt laws make sense. You aren't just trying to save the occupants. You don't want incapacitated people behind the wheel of any car at any time. It's bad for everyone.
