    Considering software upgrade for 997 GT3.

    FVD has a software upgrade/chip for $1600. Considering it for my GT3. Has anyone used there products before or has this upgrade in there GT3? Supposely gives you 427 HP. You think it's worth it. The website is FVD.de

    FVD ... they're a better known brand in Europe.
    Respectable exhaust manuf. Good bang for the buck.

    $1600 for a 12HP chip? Hmmmm... hmmm...
    I dunno. Maybe if it hits in the midrange - low end. If it's only 12HP up top, nah, not worth it. The car's only going to be up in that range 10-15% of the time anyway so it's wasted gain for the average driver in my opinion.

    WHY??
    What would you do with the xtra HP?

    Have you driven your car at or close to it's limits? Been on the track?
    Trust me the car in stock form is more car than you are a driver
    Save your money

    I would pass. If I was looking to improve performance, I'd head back to Birmingham and take another 2 day Porsche driving class. YMMV.

    What kind of advice/insult is this? Using this logic there would never be any HP increases. You can never have enough power!!! Is it worth the money? That is another question entirely but to insult his skill as a driver and claim the car has enough power for anyone just is silly. I don't understand...

    no need to get so emotional... I would replace the exhaust system and get the chip upgrade, just for the fun of knowing I squeezed a few more horsies out of this great engine... will I use them? doubtful, unless I get on a track... on the other hand, it ain't stupid to suggest to spend the money on advanced driving courses... there is always more to learn, no matter how great of a driver you are... I think knowing the limits of a GT3, and being able to explore them "on demand" is far more rewarding than gaining a few extra horsies
