    Newest mods for 997TT

I managed to get two new mods done to my 997TT. One is to replace my front hood clear bra with full VentureShield hood coverage. I plan to eventually replace the fender clear bra too.

Can you see the clear bra line on the fender? None on the hood.

The line can be found all the way over at the back edge near the windshield

    No more hood lines!

The second mod was to replace my Hoen W5W parking regular light bulbs with Hoen LED W5W bulbs which comes closer to matching the HID lowbeams

    LED W5W bulbs

Passenger side with new LED bulbs

Driver's side with Hoen regular W5W bulbs

    Compare the two

Next are the license plate LED light bulbs.

    Looking great Jason!

So where exactly do you now have covered with protective coating? I need to work out what to do myself as soon as I get mine.

Also, do you then not polish these areas once they are covered? Just wash yes?

    Cheers

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    Looks great!

The new lights fit perfectly to the standard-LED of the indicators.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Great Jason, love the look of led lights

where can i buy them?need also the "not yellow" fog lights, have you changed them also?

    thanks

Agreed! Please let us know where to find them

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

I had my 430 done the same way, the entire hood is covered.

The new lights look really great. It's not till you see the comparison though that the difference is really noticeable.

How much did they cost?/Did you make the change yourself?/Where'd you get them? Looks awesome. That's how they should look.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Contact Gary at info@hoen-usa.com to order those parking bulb LED bulbs. Make sure that you ask for the W5W LED bulbs. They were around $12 USD.

    More info: http://www.hoen-usa.com/city2.htm

I did swap out my foglight bulbs for the ones from Hoen and they do match the HIDs more than the stock bulbs did.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Very nice! Your turbo is quite impressive.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Jason, these lights are easy to get to and change?

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

VERY easy to get to. Just look under your turn signal and you'll see a Phillips screw. Just take that out and carefully pull the turn signal unit out and kinda twist out the parking light socket and swap the bulbs. Wear a rubber glove when you do that because you don't want to get your hand oil on the bulbs.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

I'd hold off on getting those W5W turn signal LED bulbs. I just got a "bulb out" error message for both my front left and right turn signals. Hoen is working on a solution.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    Hi Atomic80,

i just ordered the W5W LED Hoen Parking bulb after your first post (thanks for that ), which says there are no probs at all. Now you are saying, that you get a bulb error message and now i'm a little bit confused. I received the bulbs (LEDs + fog - uii fast shipping from U.S ) and wonder if there is a problem with the LEDs - would like to know before i start to tinker ;-))

What camera are you using for your great pictures?

    same here!!

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Yeah, unfortunately, the problems started appearing after I used the LED bulbs for a bit. Hoen is working on a solution. I apologize for having gotten everyone's hopes up!

I used a Canon SD850 IS to take those pictures.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    Jason don't worry!!

Gary at Hoen tell me that not all cars makes error, and my package is again on the way from USA to Italy,so as soon it is here i will try..

i have in the package from Hoen also a set of W5W xenonmatch to put in place of Led ones in the parking lights till there is a solution, and Gary tell me too that is working in way to jump the error.

    ciao
    Dario

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

That's bad luck, i receive the bulb out error with the LEDs :-((

but i will survive and wait until hoen will find a solution

    Thanks again atomic80

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Grrr. I jumped in with Jason too quickly I guess. O well, at least I could try and slap those W5W leds on my ML63 to see if that set off any codes.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

I fitted the LED sidelights a while ago. Purchased from a local accessory shop.
As others have seen it brings up the "check bulb" and warning sign it did say this may happen on the packaging...
I checked with my OPC if the warning could be disabled but as yet they have had no joy, Although they did agree it looked an improvemnt
As you say the colour matched the HID and does stand out.
I've continued to live with the warning light on so far with the hope of the facelift giving software advances for the fitment of LEDs.

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

I did that with my benz a while back it was freaking annoying!!! at 1st it was like cool after it was STFU!!!

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Well, I just found out from gradyex that the Hoen Xenonmatch W5W bulbs burn a bit hotter than the stock bulbs (100 degrees F vs 85 degrees F) which in turn results in melting the filter element in front of the bulb within the turn signal housing. The filter element in gradyex's passenger side turn signal unit was completely ruined. He suggested that I check mine for any signs of the same occuring to mine and much to my horror, this was starting to happen to mine. I found out from the dealership that this turn signal unit costs $400 per side! I've already ordered one as a replacement and I went back to the stock bulbs ASAP! It's just not worth it to me to have to deal with melting issues and the "bulb out" issue associated with LED bulbs. I'm going to just stick with the stock bulbs. I also plan to remove the Hoen foglight bulbs too because that might end up melting my foglight housing too! I encourage you to remove the Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs ASAP and check to see if the damage has already been done or not. It also burns through the socket housing too so check to see if that has to be replaced too.

gradyex's passenger side turn signal housing close up. He put the LED bulb in which is much cooler than the stock and xenonmatch bulbs but still gives the bulb out error message

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    Ouch...

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    Thanks for the update Jason.

Talking about mods, I have the Nav-TV iPod updated unit shipped over to me, if anyone is interested, let me know..

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

    UAAAAAAAAAAAAA

My Led bulbs are again down form the car,and i think they will never go on the car!!

    Thanks for the update Jason!

    Re: Newest mods for 997TT

Crazy. This WAS one of the first things I was going to do when I got my car. Did you talk to the Co. at all? I'm just curious as to their explaination, how would they not do any R&D?

And geez what if it's start's a fire. I guess this is one of those times/reasons to trust in Porsche,, not Co.'s selling mods.

Thanks so mcuh for the heads up!
