    968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of help

    I'm thinking about buying a 968 for something to mess with and have some fun with. The one Im looking at is a 1995 coupe. Im just curious if anyone knows how easy/expensive it is to upgrade them performance wise.. turbochargers, front mount intercooler, diverter valves or blow off valves. Also, what companies people usually go with. Oh, and if anyone knows of a good performance chip. Brand and HP/Torque increase. Anything think this could end up not being as much fun as I think it will be? One last thing, HDI kits for the 968.. anyone know anything about them?

    Re: 968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of help

    I would recommend a low mile 944 turbo, they are less expensive than the NA 968 models and much easier to tune. With just a chip, exhaust, and boost regulator you can have over 300 whp! I bought one a couple weeks ago and I'm in love.

    Oh yeah, I never got to ask you: how much power does your car have?

    Re: 968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of help

    Or you could buy a 928 and have the best thing porsche ever built. Do a simple and reliable mod and put that Ruf 997 turbo to shame. All that performance and luxury too.

    or maybe not, to each his own. porsche had a few 968 that got factory add-ons.

    Re: 968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of

    what brand turbo charger would you recommend for a 968, and how much do you think it'd cost?
    Also, what potential do you think the car would have.. speed wise.

    Mine has those mods I mentioned and should be putting down about 300 whp! By the way I doubt any 928 is going to put a ruf 997tt to shame.

    Well all I can use as comparison is REAL world numbers posted by people I believe

    RC who posted on the Ruf powerkit in an every day setting;

    http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=379816&an=0&page=1#379816

    where he got these results;

    Here are the results of the tested car (1620 kg weight):

    Power at wheels: 357 kW or 486 HP
    Max. lat. accel.: 1.1 G (Michelin Cup)
    0-100 kph: 3.9 sec
    0-200 kph: 11.1 sec
    0-250 kph: 18.0 sec
    0-300 kph: 32.1 sec

    and a fellow 928 owner who i have done business with and who has a faultless reputation and his supercharged 928 achieved these numbers in a real world situation;

    0-60 mph 3.79 sec
    0-125 mph 10.6 sec

    I believe the 928 wins here over a "Ruf".

    "put to shame" is an expression just meaning who wins by the numbers. The Ruf and all 997/911 variants are tremendous perfomance machines which i appreciate and like.

    This is a set-up that is durable and is well within the engine and transmission capabilities of the 928 for year after year use. The was 928 was built like a tank and is an amzzing vehicle. Own one or drive a good one, then tell me what you think.

    Hib, if you want to know technical details of modding a 968/944 i suggest the other renn board. btw how fast do you really need to go.

    Hi Hib05,

    check or better talk to this guy ... his name is Konstantin ... he frequently works for US-customers and spends some time in the US ... he is a ingeniuos freak !!! Reliable, fast, affordable.

    Check out wheather he still is in business?! Homepage is quite dated.

    Re: 968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of

    rennlist has a very active 928/68 area

    Re: 968 Question for RC or anyone who might be of

    If you want a turbo, get a 944 instead of fitting one to a 968.

    If you're set on getting a 968 then I'd recommend spending your money on upgrading the suspension, brakes and getting some Michelin Cup tires for it. On a technical track it will be one hell of a car that'll easily be quicker than new cars with a lot more hp.

    Good luck!

    I agree - and get a 944 Turbo S (more power, LSD with tranny cooler, bigger brakes, forged wheels, etc.)
