Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

My impressions with the car after the second day of the Ring.Just fabulous.
Powerfull car even that the body of the car is not repair yet., marvellous sound,i love how you have to be precise in the line and placing the car correctly.

How you cannot aloyd yourself to push the gaz pedal to early. How you have to be precise with the sterring weehl.

Well it's a real racing car wich demands you to drive it the way it has to be.

So you dont hate me then and sorry if we could'nt get a but let's do it now "zum Vol" oder "prost"

Bad condition for the Gt3 but best way to discover and learn to get along with the car.

The good thing with my Bro accident is that my car is getting very famous and almost a star.

How did it happen to get such a hole to that place

Anyway car is behaving well and for the moment i'm having alot of fun and no regrets of having sold my Lotus for the GT3.

So if today you still hesitating and your wife says go for it then REALLY GO FOR. It will be some well spent money.

Ok, i'm going to bed cause tomorrow another Ring day. For doe's that cannot be here, let me do a lap for you by thinking.

Re insurance: I see swarms of UK cars on the Ring at weekends. Can't imagine that they all are without full insurance coverage

You'd be surprised. The best quote I got was for about Pounds1,200 for one day if I remember correctly...

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

The Ring is certainly the most famous track in the world and I'd be hard pressed to turndown the opportunity to lap on it, but I have to say that a part of me thinks its a terrible idea.

One of the great things about a track is learning it and finding out how to work it best. That's virtually impossible at the Ring without thousands of laps.

Also, there are plenty of other cars on it, and some imbecile could crash and wreck your car, or inure you, or worse . . .

Plus, it's a notoriously challenging track, so you could easily wreck you car etc.

As "cool" as it is, I think I'm going to stay off the Ring for now, and save my track time for tracks I can progressively get to know.

The track at Barber Motorsports for the Posche Sprt Driving Schcool is really gorgeous. I hear Hockenheim is excellent. Any other ideas?

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

    Cram and Gnil,
Enjoy and stay safe. Thanks for the post!

    PJ,
Yeah, he's absolutely right: at least four P-cars sounds about right.

    Take care guys!

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

Oh boy, you're in trouble now Achim (financially)
Never accept a ride in a nice car unless you have the money to buy one

Funny to read about the the 911s that wouldn't let you past.
"We can't drive them, but we have ze more expensive car, so go away little Boxster" Morons

Thanks for the write-up, sounds like a blast

That's why there are courses like the one offered by the Scuderia Hanseat. Not the only one, but certainly among the best. Highly recommended. That's what Cram, Gnil & co are doing right now...

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

@ResB, online insurers like elephant.co.uk specifically exclude races, track days and the Nurburgring Nordschleiffe. I know about your insurance quotation of Pounds1200 but AFAIK that was for a specific weekend of track day/'Ring driving. What I am referring to is different. If one goes to an insurance broker, they provide fully comprehensive cover for 1 year with 1 or 2 days track days possible too (albeit with a higher excess applicable). I gather that Porsche Insurance (Marsh brokers) does this for a very reasonable price. I don't have the detail though so I will be doing my homework early next year. If I find out anything positive, of course, I will let people here know

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

    Achim, Thanks for the compliments
Your are a true enthousiaste . It was great to meet you and your friends
Cram and myself drove back today, with cars in perfect conditions
Have you had some sleep or are you now just thinking about the day you will be driving your Gt3

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

I'm sure you had a blast and that you will proudly carry the "R" badge very soon
Looking forward to watch some pics of the event
Hope you didn't suffer too much from the typical Eifel weather (see pic)
BTW: what happened to the Gumpert Apollo ? Heard that the car was totalled on Saturday in the Klostertal corner and that the docs had to look after the driver

No sleep for me yet - my brain is completely occupied by the GT3

That you have become a Routinier. You start as a Beginner, then you become a sportdriver and then if you are in the points you become a routinier

Less then most of the Routiniers of my group but not enough

Re: Why I hate Cram and why I love my wife

    Congrats on the "R" Cram!

And again, I'm sorry for my abscence, it wasn't exactly what I had in mind either...

Hope to see you next time

when I saw a white 997 TT appearing in my mirror at crazy speed. Hence I stayed at the right side and watched in horror as the TT-pilot (instead of braking to not hit my friend) pushed even further Obviously he thought there would be enough room for three cars When he realised that it just wasn't so he tried to escape onto the green and you can imagine what happened - never watched such a hefty crash (car went sideways on the green without hitting the armco, then crossed the track onto the green at the other side, hit the armco, went back onto the track - entire "trace" about 300 m or so ). Brandnew 997 TT totalled, but driver and passenger o.k. The guys were real Gentlemen though ("no question, it was our mistake") and they seemed to be quite relaxed after the crash ("It's only metal...."). They looked like they instantly could order a new TT The Marshals couldn't believe what they saw ("How can one crash at this straight ? We never saw it before....")

In the afternoon I saw a totalled black/orange 997 GT3 RS in the meadows....

I was seriously thinking of coming over next year and having a go round the 'ring - one of the "need to do" thrills with a P car - not so sure now

    Thanks.

I was completely unaware of such a rating system.

So I assume it is an internal classification of the course you intended and not something taking place among all the Ring's participants.

Porsche Insurance cover track days, 2 per year for the named driver only, not additional drivers. Premium remains unchanged but the excess increases to 10% of the car's purchase price. The Nurburgring is specifically EXCLUDED
