I predict facelift models will be available in the US in the Spring of 08. It is a repeat on the 997 calendar of the 996 facelift calendar.
That has been my prediction all along and I think I will be correct.

Computer ordering specs/build dates prob means little....
Why wouldn't PAG/PCNA allow those primitive P ordering computers to simply offer nominal choices for foreseeable future? Why give away timing to dealers/custs and lose/delay sales (and/or force discts/cheaper leases) of curr model for many mths in advance of inevitable leaks on various chat boards as we get closer to official disclosure?

MY 2009 FACELIFT will be introduced around spring 2008, first cars may be at US dealers around August/Sept. maybe a month earlier. Europeans may get the facelifted 997 around June/July already. Engines have direct fuel injection and are still based on the M97 engine. Power may be up to 400 HP for the new Carrera S but I don't know it his includes a possible powerkit. Right now rumours range from 380 to 400 HP for the Carrera S. I have the precise figures but I can't unveil them but don't expect a huge power upgrade. Hope this helps.

thanks RC
We've been thinking these weeks, what are we going to do with the 997, may be we sell it back to the dealer in 2-3 months time, and order the facelift when possible, now with that information, will probably do it, arrrgggghhhh depreciation !!!!
So it will be between 380bhp-400bhp WITH or without X51??, According to what you've said it'll be without ??? , that would be GREAT NEWS!!!, Similar GT3 numbers then........

What about for the 997TT? Will they be introduced in the same timeframe? Any HP increase, since the Carrera S, if it gets 400HP, will not be that far behind the 997TT's 480 HP.

Come on RC. You're killing me. All I want to know is whether it's 400 with or without PK. Is that too much to ask?

Here is the little dilemma right now
ok, thanks Devo
But looking to the competiros, new bmw M3 (v8, 420bhp), Audi RS4, and new AUDI RS5(which probably these two are not DIRECT COMPETITORS) seems that Porsche may be puts even more bhp than we expect...I dont know

The updated 997 GT3 with PSM is rumored to get a revised 435 HP engine. Meaning that the 997 Carrera S could get 400 HP easily without threatening the model hierarchy.
As far as I know, the 997 Turbo base model stays untouched regarding power but there are still rumours of a possible powerkit with aprox. 520 HP. It can't be excluded that this power will be standard on future 997 Turbo models but I highly doubt it. Porsche knows how to make money and nothing is for free. It would also be too close to the 530 HP 997 GT2. So right now, there is no indication of a power upgrade for the 997 Turbo standard model (non-powerkit) and judging by the information I got, I'd say that the 480 HP power figure stays the same until the 997 Turbo gets a replacement (998 Turbo?) around MY2011 or latest 2012. Of course this claim doesn't include the rumored powerkit or a possible Turbo S model.

I would bet on 400 hp with x51. RC mentioned a small power encrease..so , Carrera S with 380 hp , X51 400hp. and that leaves room to the GT3. Otherwise , Carrera S 400hp , X51..425 hp.., no, it does not work !
I will be having realy big problems deceiding between the Carrera S X51 a Gt3 or a Turbo...

I have to agree with that logic somewhat and it is supported by past Porsche practice. Typical bump from Mk I to Mk II is 20hp. On the other hand, I don't think a 400hp 997S would really eat into GT3 sales because the GT3 is really a totally different car that people buy for more than just the additional power. Plus a 997S with X51 would sticker for almost as much as a GT3 (only about US$8K).
