    Front numberplate - sticker?

    Always wondered how some cars (eg. Veyron) are allowed to have a sticker in the bumper as a numberplate instead of a fixed plate.

    You guys in the US are very lucky not to have the front noses of your sports cars ruined by a huge ugly plate.

    Anyone know what the rules are for using stickers instead of plates?

    Here in my country stickers with registration numbers instead of plates arent allowed, but I had it on Mazda Miata about 7 years ago and I didnt had problems with cops. Only once I was stopped on Austrian border, but I had real plates in trunk so I had to put it on car. Also my friend got sticker instead of plate on Corvette C6 and he doesnt have any trubles with cups too. But penalty for not heaving real front plate is about 500 Euro I think..

    I believe in the states they don't feels its relevant to display your number plate since they could identify the car through other means

    I suppose if you drive a supercar you really want LESS reasons for the police to pull you over, not more.

    Here in the states front number plates are required in most states. In Virginia where I live they are required but some states don't require them. I have not had a front plate on my 997S for two years and I have been lucky to not get pulled over for it.

    I remember when I lived in Ohio back in the '80s front plates were required. Not sure if they still are! I also remember they were not required in Michigan.
