What color combo should I go with?

As I wait for my allocation from the dealer and the Frankfurt auto show I've begun to think I should switch back to my original color combo of black with terracotta from black and sand beige.

My question is does anybody have any pictures of a 987 with black exterior and Terracotta interior? I'm starting to think this is like finding Bigfoot. And secondly, what does everyone think is better black/tan or black/terracotta? The last thing I want is boring and I'm starting to see alot of black Toyota's with tan interiors

You are suffering from the infamous "overthinking" one's decision, I know it well. I actually tried to switch the color of my car at one point. Fortunately by the time I tried to do that it was to late to change. I am so happy that things couldn't be changed. I now realize my first instinct was so right and I would have regretted not getting my original choice. I just had way to much time to over analyze. Realize that color is a very personal thing. What some people find gorgeous, others see as...less then pleasing.

Personally I find the terracotta interior way to loud, but that's just me. I know some people who absolutely love it. My best advice is stick with your first instinct and don't over analyze. Your car will get here soon enough, although it doesn't seem like it at the moment, and all this will soon fade into a distant memory. Oh and since your in California come join us at Lake Tahoe in October. Bring whatever car your driving now.

I would switch to Carrera red leather. With the black...it's fantastic.

Sand beige is a truly boring choice. If you want tan, get the gorgeous natural brown leather. That would be my choice with black exterior.

I saw a Cayman with Atlas Grey and Terracotta. It was truly arresting. I would have a hard time not putting that on my list. Meteorite Grey with Carrera Red would be another great choice.

There are way too many awesome color possibilities, and with a drop top, the interior color is a critical decision.

We have a 997 member with black and terracotta...

I too am no fan of the sand beige. It would be my last choice of all the interior colors available. Stick with terracotta I say.

I wouldn't take any other color other than sand with a black car, in full leather with leather visors. The contrast would provide the classiest looking combination. Combining black and terracotta only works for GA bulldog fans or Dracula.

Well, one Sand owner here, and I'd say it's definitely not boring! It's a very personal choice, but I wanted a colour that lightened the cabin a bit (to make it feel a bit less enclosed than Black) and added a bit of warmth (grey I found to be too flat for my taste). If I'd have seen a Cocoa in the flesh before I'd specced, I probably would have gone for that instead.

But for any of these colours, you really really have to see a car with that interior in the flesh, sit in it close the doors.... you can NOT chose by photo. Particularly Terracotta and Cocoa. I thought Terracotta would be good, but it's very orange in reality, and may not be to everyone's taste. It's one of those love it or hate it colours.

And it sounds so girly, but one of he other reasons I chose Sand was that it was a neutral colour - it's not going to clash with whatever shirt you want to wear. I know, and I have the handbag to match too.

Notes on maintenance of Sand - in two years, 30kmiles of daily all year use, I haven't found the leather gets that dirty. But it's easier to tell when your steering wheel/gear lever need cleaning. You don't notice any reflections off the windscreen either.

Final point, which may apply to any leather, and particularly the smooth leather steering wheels - you need to condition the leather once in a while to stop it drying out and cracking. It's quite sensitive to that, particularly with the vents blowing on to it. But you need a conditionner that retains the leather feel.

Just goes to show how everyone quite rightly has different opinions when it comes to colour. I'd hate the coal-bunker effect of black / black / black. Neither do I like terracotta - it's probably the last colour I'd choose. Sand looks great, but only with the right exterior colour - fabulous combination with midnight blue. It also needs some contrast colour, such as the centre console in exterior colour. Never, ever order sand unless you go for full leather, the plastic trim, particularly on top of the dash looks awful. It was on my short list to have with cobalt, my all time favourite paint colour, along with grey or ocean blue.

@ mavrick 777 Take a tip - ask other people what they would choose and you will end up totally confused - go with what works for you, other peoples opinion don't matter one cent.

Thanks everyone...what's driving me crazy at this point is waiting for the Frankfurt auto show. I'll definately be doing full leather unless of course I get black.

I think the other question...is whether the leather color is worth a few grand to you. If you don't want to spend extra money in that area, I'd go with black or metropol blue (depending on the exterior color).

This is a sports car, not a Toyota. Go bold.

i've got a black with terracotta( full leather). I must say its nice but gets dirty real fast. The color also gets a lil boring after a couple of months.

If i had to make the choice again. i would get a black/red combo or full black interior.

Black with Terracotta or Carrera Red is very good combo, anyway your car is a top down P, buy the combo you love most.

Have you ever owned a black car before ? Trust me , it takes a lot of effort to keep it looking good and the stone chips show up like its been shot blasted ! If you really want black then get it clear coat bra'd if you are going to drive it daily. I like black but the meteor grey or white would be my preferred option on another boxster. As to terracotta interior it sounds more practical than sand , but sand does look more classy in my opinion. Go with the colours you like best , its your money and you are the one spending the most time in the car.
