    TT ordered yesterday

After a protracted duration of "yes we will; no we won't" I gave up on my two-tone black and natural brown interior car. I could not receive written guarantee that all the bits and pieces would be the correct color, so fearing an expensive mistake I retreated and ordered a natural gray interior. I was soooo close to giving it a go, but in the rear seat and side panel area things got "squishy" It would seem to be a simple task to substitute natural brown everywhere there is tan in the two-tone blk/tan, but I guess not.

So, it is an October build car:

    Carrara white
    Natural gray leather
painted rockers, front and rear spoiler lips
    headlamp washer covers white
Turbo logo on rear deck lid painted white
    red taillights (CXF)
    leather door finishers
gear lever trim piece in leather
    rear center console leather
storage bin cover w/turbo logo leather
    heated seats (girlfriend's insistence)
    sport chrono
leather sunvisors -- hopefully in alcantara

What did i miss? I can change the spec until Tuesday according to the dealer. I tried to get the GT3 wheels at the factory, but apparently is verboten.

Anyone have pics of a Turbo with Champion wheels - maybe the RG5's?

    Dick Kreidel

PS: I almost switched to the new macadamia - but I couldn't figure out what other than nat brn leather would look good with it, and i was so po'd about the 2-tone natural brown I just dropped it.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

LSD (Axle-Lock Diff.), Sport Shifter, Sport Adaptive Seats, Sport Steering Wheel, Crests Headrests. Personally. I'd also add paint to match center console.

Oh...and, if your car is a tip, I'd go for the stick option; LOL.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

Oh yea, Limited slip diff - I forgot that while getting so torqued off about the interior color. Thanks!!
And yes, it is a stick. i have the sport shifter in my C2s and want to try the std one for a while.

I agree w/ devo for most of the additions.

I wouldn't paint the center consule, especially not white it will stand out like a sore thumb. And I'm not sold on the sport shifter Porsche already reduced shift throws for 2nd to 6th 15% from the 996 turbo. But agree add LSD/Adaptive Sport Seats/Crests in headrests/XPA steering wheel.

Since you are getting leather or alcantara sunvisors I'd add the dome light in leather & perhaps the rear view miorror in leather, especially since both leather options will turn black plastic into grey leather.

Leather steering column & leather inner sills are really nice too since you're going w/ added leather.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

Atomic 80, who also has Natural Gray interior in his Cobalt TT, made a good suggestion too: substitute black deviating carpet for the natural gray. Sounds like a good idea; I will make that change too and see what the 00471 option is all about --- deviating carpet on back of rear seat backs (??)

Thanks for all the good ideas guys!

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

I just looked at the latest order guide for the 997TT and it looks like if you were to get 00471 you'd be required to get option 25241 which is f/r seats in leather deviated color. My guess is that would be so you'd get two different leather colored seats. You'd have to get deviated carpeting to match that. Therefore, I'd advise against getting option 00471.

Just go with option 24951 to get your entire interior carpeting in black.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

I didn't realize that your car was white. I agree with Stradale; don't have the center console painted. With the greys and some darker colors, I like it a lot, but some of the brighter colors, no way.
Stainless Sills would be nice too.

As far as the Short Shifter, that's a personal preference. Many owners consider this a must have option. I've owned one 997 without it and two with it; one of which was the turbo. I wouldn't order my next Porsche without it. But, to each his/her own. It's not like the standard shifter isn't great, it is.

Which shifter would you say is easier to find gears? I haven't added the sport shifter to my order because I found the standard 997 S shifter really great. I'm still up in the air but figure it's not a necessary factory ordered option because I can always have the dealer install it but problem is I haven't been able to try a 997 w/ the SS and don't want to ruin a great thing by ordering the SS. So what's your opinion of my question? I know the SS has reduced gear throws but do you feel the SS or standard shifter is easier to find gears?

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

I feel that the SS is everything that the standard shifter is, but with shorter throws. With that said, I don't really believe that there is a noticable difference in finding gears. They find gears with equal precision, imo.

SS does feel a "tad" more notchy when cold, but it quickly goes away. This does not matter to me at all because I always drive slowly for a proper warm up anyway; so like I said, it's meaningless to me.

Gregg, I know you are like me in that you want perfection in your cars. I would be tenative in having the dealer install the SS fearing that they MIGHT not install it with the precision that Porsche is likely to. (Maybe that is unwarranted, maybe not) Of course, I would hate to steer you this way and have you not like it.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

I thought the sport shifter was a dealer installed option now, ie., no longer installed at the factory. Is this not true?

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

It was a factory option, then a dealer option and now its back to being factory or dealer installed.

    Thanks. Good point.
I need make up my mind before I can no longer make changes to my order.

    Re: TT ordered yesterday

I have natural brown in my TT and since it has leather every where inclduing the center console, I would not paint anything or even use carbon or wood on the interior.
