    Three comments I would like to make about this artist's piece of pornography, if I may:

    1. "Ya know..., alot of those scratches will buff right out," Seinfeld in "The Handicapped Space" episode.

    2. Though I'd have to see more of this artist's work to be sure, I suspect this guy is doing pure BS which will be forgotten in fifteen minutes.

    3. From the one second of video time showing the PCM getting wrenched from it's bracketing, I now have a better idea how to remove it properly if that ever becomes necessary.

    Wow, why would they do that.....

    Anyway, theoretically the new ruf GT3 is converted from a 997, or so I've read - theres apparently some controversey about it, yes the spaceframe is all new...

    And mankind has proven itself yet again as a destruction driven species. This guy is worse than Jeremy Clarkson!
    It broke my heart to see how the steering wheel turned when the car was squished. Like an animal struggling to free itself...

    The Carrera seems to have been emptied before. No airbags, no center crest on steering wheel, black rims..like Rossi says, it must be a pre series car.

    That kind of ' scupture' has been done so many times..

    I believe that pre-production and development cars have to be destroyed anyway - the manufacturers wouldn't want a hack getting on the road (would you want to buy one if it had been hammered to the point of destruction to prove component reliability)? and also if I remember right there was an article about the destruction of Jaguar's prototypes some time ago in Car magazine - if destroyed there is a tax rebate on the cost of the development car if it can be proven to have been destroyed.

    You're right, DC - even the P-loaners used for the PDEs share the same sad fate

    Though I don't understand why someone would regard it as "art" to destroy a car

    BTW the same "artist" casted some 997 in concrete (using the cars as a "negative form") He actually offered these sculptures for 120k Euro each.

    This piece of Artwork is faaaaaar better. Vastly more inspiring than the mere 997 artist's.

    1.) Wa using a pre-sesries Porsche (Herr Ferdinand, that is ).

    2.) Was Austrian.

    3.) Was and idi.ot.

    And he also drew a heck of a lot more condemnation than our little Porsche nazi here.

    But seriously, I just don't see this as art.

    To be fair, it _is_ art. It is sufficient to be called art if exists in the _context_ of what is called art (a museum in this case).

    Having exatblished that it is Art. The question is obviously , "is it __good__ art?"

    To answer THAT you have to spend alot of time trying to get a comprehensive view of what's been happening in the Modernist and Post-Modernist art world (stuff made by artists and responded to by cultural critics and historians) for the past 80 years or so.

    No big deal..., if it gets you thinking about stuff that expands your mind I guess it's good. There's so much other stuff which makes my brain cringe (Iraq, global politics economics, health, kids'welfare, mass entertainment, etc).

    The "Artist" can call it "Art," then it's art. It can be bad art. It must be considered in context of all the other "art" the artist made or claims to make.

    What is Art? It has to do with _context_. It's a gesture, object, or action that an artist places in an Art context. Can be deemed BS or sheer genius depending on the other stuff the artist has done.

    Then you have religion and magic and mental-illness to deal with. What does it mean if a New Guinea native smashes such a watch for the whole tribe to see? What does it mean for a spoiled ahole rich kid who claims to be an artist to smash such a watch? How about that magician, what's-his-name..., he smashes such a watch and it magically reappears intact?

    It's very problematic to say something is not art when it has been placed in an art context. Your only way out is to say it's bad art, mere entertainment, criminality or mental illness. Then you have to justify why you made one of those claims. Or do what I do: Ignore it!
