Got a go in C4s. Finally.

This one was a 997C4s, tip.

What can I say? I was smiling, even laughing my @ss off the all way. It's so good I don't have words to describe it. I also got a caymen S and a 964 turbo today, and both were not as good as the C4s.

The cayman S was fast. A good improvement over the 2.7 boxster I had the other day. But somehow the C4s felt much much faster. I felt the back end's weight in turns. Not with the cayman S. Very stable. Too stable I must say. I know that I said that porsches felt light (on the front end) but after driving these two, I have to correct my first impressions.

I liked the 997's handling better because you felt the back end a lot more. The car was more communicative, was more involving than the boxster or the cayman S.

Cayman S is great, don't get me wrong, I had it before the 997c4s and it was a blast. But after driving the 997, I can tell you that there's a world between these two cars.

My god I loved it. Overtaking cars was liking asking the cars in front to just pull over. As I'm writing you this review, I'm still smiling. That's exactly what was missing in the 2.7 boxster. Cayman S made me smile. The 997c4s made me laugh out loud. I'm in love.

I had a passenger and he had had a go before me. He told me that while it's quite impressive when you're behind the wheel, it's even more so as a passenger. You're pushed in you seat, and you just don't know what's coming, while the driver does. You're scared and laughing at the same time.

The tip was a good surprise. Very responsive and fast. Actually, it's as fast (or felt) as the DSG I had many times on audis. I hated the dsg. It's no good. Too slow and the paddles don't work as well as the tip buttons. I don't know if it's the engine, but on the porsche you go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd in no time. Driving in the city becomes madness as there's no time lost in changing gears. The car goes and never stop pushing hard. Very cool. Those who said tip is for grand pa (including me before trying it) are so wrong. I can see the point of the tip.

Comfort is even better than on the cayman or boxster. And both of these were running on 18inch while the c4s was on 19. It's like any audi. Smooth as a baby's skin.

The 964 turbo made me feel like will smith in bad boys. Although I'm not black. And I'm not a cop. and I don't have gun. But comparing it to the 997C4s makes no sense. What's so great with the c4s is that you've got power in low revs too. The 964 turbo didn't had any, until you hit 4,000 rpm, then you go like a crazy man on drugs. It's loud at any revs, until you hit 4,000rpm and then it's awfully loud. When you release the accelerator and let it go, it's like hearing gun shots. But it's not smooth, it's not civilized, it's a racing car for mad people. I don't have the figures, but I'm pretty sure the 997c4s is as fast. or probably faster.

    God I love my job.

Here are pics of it when my colleague was behind teh wheel

Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally.

    Here's the 964 turbo.

Htis car is for pilots who knows hat to do. And I don't for sure. So I took it a slow. Still. Mad I tell you.

Are these privately owned cars or are they the dealers

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

You love your job, but, what job do you have Amazon?
And a golden tip... try a 997S with manual gearbox... it's still alot faster and more responsive, just double pleasure, compared to a 4wd tip!
    Just try!

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

Ok, Amazon, I thought you were doing the same job I did for two summers at D'ieteren, but you aren't...

I just had to drive Audi's of the train and park them 1km further, I never had to be on the road, let alone in a Porsche.

Yours is a somewhat cooler variant of what I had to do

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

You have THE summer job !
So, I guess now the RS4 is not as appealing as it was the other day anymore

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

    What can I say! Congratulations!

Didn't expect your chance to come so soon!

I can sense your happiness through the words in your post. Well done mate.

Summer job at Dieteren. (imports cars of VW group in belgium + avis an carglass)

I'm sure I'll get my habds on a c2s one day or the other. My co worker got to drive the 997 turbo. I got the c4s again. I'm praying that I will have the opportunity to have the turbo as he did. And a GT3. That'd be awesome.

The only cars we don't get are lambos and the R8. And the A5. I guess the R8 and A5 are not so common and the waiting makes them fall in very lucky hands. I haven't seen one lambo so far. I guess the cars are distributed by some other network. I don't know.

I'm seriously addicted now. Going back home in my A3 diesel starts to be a pain.

No, we're driving outside all the time.

With a porsche, I get 40-45 minutes on open roads and mostly in brussels. Yesterday I had 3 porsches, that's like 2h15 testdriving porsches. Really nice I can tell you.

Today I got the c4s again. So far I've spent 1h30 playing around with that car. 120.000 euros car. I'm so lucky. And I'm paid to do that.

Today I also took a new touareg V6 TDI from Kortenberg (EK) to Dieteren Mail, Ixelles. The car had 6km on the clock when I took it. Brand new. Did 30km with it. Really comfortable. As we say here, "c'est la voiture des glandeurs". Elle avance super bien et est tellement confortable que t'as l'impression d'etre dans ton canapé, devant la télé.

Compared to the c4s, it's absolute rubbish though.

The RS4 is great but you're right, it's nothing compared to thee c4s. Like someone said, it's less involving. On some days, when I'm tired, I'd like to have the RS4 ut when you want some fun, the 997 is the one to have.

I'm still not clear what the job really entails. Is it delivering cars to customers who don't want to pick up/drop off their own cars?

Yes, sometimes the customer don't want to pick up the car. We deliver it to the client. Most are company cars. Audi A4, A6, touaregs and so on.

There are new cars (or with 5000km on the clock) we have to deliver to dealers. Supply them with what they want or need. It can be a replacement car (a guy drops his porsche and wants one as replacement while waiting) or It can be test cars, demos, ...

Some dealers can't repair body damage. They have to be delivered to a place where they are repaired. And the driven back to the dealer. You ask yourself why the owner doesn't drive it himself to the bodyshop but I guess people are very lazy.

There are some Home services: a guy wants us to pick up his car at his office for maitenance. We pick up the car, and go to the dealer. Later in the afternoon, before the customer leaves his job, we have to drive the car back to his office. The owner doesn't have to do anything.

    That kind of stuff.

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

Getting paid to drive porsche's, that's great. Have fun. It's enjoyable to hear your impressions of these cars.

Just don't take your eyes off the road or hit the gas too hard in the wrong spot.

Depends on what purpose those vehicles serve. If they are demo cars, fine, but if a customer is waiting for that car, it sucks to be him .

Amazon, are the brand-new Audis that are imported into Belgium transported to the dealers by truck or are they driven?

    Re: Got a go in C4s. Finally. and 964turbo & cay S

    Thanks, amazon- enjoyed your report!

I'd liked to have had a job like that when I was in school.
