Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today?

It was a caravan of about 12 next generation 997 etc. mules being tested. It included a TT, 997 2S's, Targa's, Cab's, Cayman's and Boxster's. Georgia plates with the tail lights semi-masked and little data antenna's.(plus some masking on the fronts) Hard to tell where the guy's driving were from? Could have been guy's from PAG. Here's one of the pics I took:

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today?

Yea, they were all face lifts

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

Yes. They all did. As far as the tail lights anyway. Of course the LED's up front vary from each car.(TT already has them anyway) It looks like the full line up gets the face lift except special cars like the GT3's etc.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

Nice, any shots from the side. We know they are not 08s, I guess 09s?

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

    Good work bud, thanks

Hey is that Warner and Gothard street in HB?

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

I reckon Porsche is going to release a face lift mid 08 production - sometime in February I reckon

Yea, they were traveling along Warner from PCH to the freeway I'm guessing.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

Wow, great find - thanks for posting!

Now the only question that remains is, when will MY09 start?

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

This has worried me now - should I be holding out until next spring before I get my Turbo?

The Turbo Sports Exhaust option has a target release date of April 2008, so I wonder if this facelift will coincide with this?!

From the pics I have seen of the Carrera facelift thus far, I actually prefer the current version! However, if facelift changes are more than just skin-deep then perhaps I should hold out for a few more months. I will be totally distraught if Direct Injection is introduced a couple of months after I get my car!! I think I will talk to my OPC about this today.

SrfCity - how 'different' would you say the Turbo looked?

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

I think mo08 is short and face lift is in the 08 March or April. Just a guess.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

Told ya! That low-cost high-buzz facelift sales tactic will happen "every" year for now on. The're no longer concerned about alienating repeat customers; they have new bodies coming into the showroom all the time.

Sooooo, it makes no sense to "hold out" because everybody will be in the same boat: we'll all be "outdated" in a matter of months (okay..., maybe a year or so...) after "The Wait" is over.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

i suppose it is sad to see P fall into such a repeatative tactic as other car makers, how come with all these new technologies, life expectancy of these new babies last fewer years comparing to the good old years (dated back 20 years or so)...

Other than the newer tail lights I couldn't really tell. The front was masked too so they're could be some slight changes there. A black TT was leading the pack.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today

IMHO I don't know how you guys wait months or years for your cars--instant gratification is expensive, but you never know when your present moment is going to end. Also, I think Porsche (unlike Ferrari) is going for the quantity play and has MMD stated, the new bodies/lights/etc will never end...sad, but perhaps true.

No change at all in release schedules...

PAG is doing no different in the 997 life than they did in the 996 life. The 996 was introduced in 98 as a 99 model and the facelift appeared in 2002. The 997 was introduced in late 04 as an 05 model and the facelift appears in 08. Same schedule. What's all the fuss about?

Re: No change at all in release schedules...

Once this 'facelift' is fielded it will be something else coming along that will drive the show. Recall, too, that the MY09 cars will all come with the Dumbo mirrors,--to meet Euro safety specs. I think the basic 997 is a winner.

Re: Guess what I saw in Huntington Beach, CA today?

    Thx

Any sense if 997s had PDK/paddleshifters?

Agree. Spy shots of the facelift are what goaded me into buying my MY07 just to avoid it.

Re: No change at all in release schedules...

The facelifted car will probably have direct injection and offer the usual power increase that is enough to make the older version considerably less desirable to most.

At this point, I'd hold out.

Re: No change at all in release schedules...

Can't wait to see pictures of the 997TT facelift. Wonder if they will delay that release, as the current design hasn't been out for that long.

Re: No change at all in release schedules...

Does anyone actually know anything about a 997TT facelift? I don't believe the 996TT got a facelift.
