Well done on the mount and not killing the ...!

Have you made any other videos from your car? What kind of video camera are you using?

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly killed a

Black cat - that's a sign of good luck to come!!

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly killed a

Good stuff ResB. If you'd changed to a GT3 the moggy would have been a gonna!... Have you given up on that idea?

I've just made the one the first being last night, but unfortunately I went more than 60mph so can't post it....but there wasn't anyone about so I might run the of risk being lambasted. I'll post a little clip of a nice sweeping left hander.

It's just a small mount on a suction pod and standard camcorder, a Sony DCR-PC350E which weighs next to nothing. Like I say it was my first attempt and need to spend a little more time getting the position and angle right. Absolutely no problems with it though.

and yes....I am spying on the lovely yound lady next door before you ask.

Nice one Alex, I'm at the Ring next weekend, so could do with a little luck and a 81/2 minute lap too

Here you go...the file's perhaps a little big at 12mb but hey, quality not quantity.

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

Hi John, the GT3 is still a distinct possibility but I'm not really getting offered the kind of money for mine from a dealer (no surprise there then). I wanted a quick sale as I don't have time to hang around if I want one of these 50 or so '08 cars knocking about. I have one or two people who are interested and are private buyers but I'll just have to wait and see if anything happens there.

I am tempted to wait for the mkII, therefore not paying a premium on the current mkI, not being a second owner just so I can have one and taking even more of a hit when the mkII arrives. I think I could be Pounds30k down in the first year...

Having said this though, I'm looking at a second hand mkI in basalt black (prefer white), with 3,000 miles on the clock and pretty much the spec I'm after. Pounds88k though for a car which lists new at about Pounds84,500.

Have you noticed how many GT3 RS's have started coming up for sale! Dunno what's going on there, but either way, too rich for my blood and perhaps a bit too track focussed for me also.

Nice but where's the black cat ?

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

You need to look more closely...

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

ResB. where did you get the suction cup unit for the sony camcorder?

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

Well it's no wonder you had problems, you were driving on the wrong side of the road.

It's a universally standard screw fitting which will fit any camera/camcorder and the like, not specifically Sony. (I know Sony have a habit of trying to be different, but not in this case)

I bought the mount from a company called "Fast Films". You can check out their website at https://sslrelay.com/www.fastfilmsshop.c...ndex.shopscript

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

Some what off topic but nevertheless.

Does anyone know if those type of camera mounts (suction on windshield) are allowed in either PCA or SCCA AutoCross events. I know you must remove all loose objects from the cabin; is this mount strong enough suction-wise to stay put?

Thanks and sorry if I high jacked the thread.

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

    thanks ResB, good information, thanks.

Re: Testing my camera mount tonight...nearly kille

    Hey,

    thought to share some information.
Got mine at http://www.chasecam.com/mounts/ and I can even put a pretty old and heavy Sony DCR-25 on the outside on the car!
