    Has anyone heard any news on n X50 for the 997TT??

    Asabove really, and will the GT2's titanium exhaust become an option for the TT???

    TT titanium exhaust schedules for next April release - retrofittable.

    I haven't heard anything about the powerkit though.

    I'm thinking the "power kit" will take the form of the Turbo S.

    That is, no "slight" HP differences available for approx us$15K. You want more HP? You get 500+ HP by buying the S.

    The Turbo S is a marketing ploy. The 996TTS was essentially a TT with X50, PCCB, additional paint options, and an "S" on the deck lid. An "S" buyer wasn't getting any option he couldn't have selected prior to its release. The key difference was price: A Turbo S, optioned exactly the same as a Turbo X50 with PCCB, was less expensive, although I don't recall by how much. I think a base 996TTS ran about $132K USD, which was a discount of several thousand dollars versus a pre-S model.

    I see the Turbo S as a sales tool to keep Turbo sales up before the next-gen model is released.

    I am appalled by your lack of automotive knowledge .

    How in the world could you have forgotten about the exclusive GREEN tint at the top of the windshield?

    Yeah, That _is_ possible. They have all sorts of tricks don't they.

    Makes me wonder now why Carrera and Carrera S were available within a year of eachother.

    A thousand pardons! I think that maybe the wheels were painted in a different (darker) color, as well. Let us also not forget the stainless steel "Turbo S" door sills!

    Weren't the Carrera models released simultaneously?

    Perhaps you're referring to the X51 power package, which I believe was indeed made available shortly after the 997's introduction.

    What I find most interesting is Porsche's "backwards" Cayman introduction. Maybe they wanted to come out strong with the Cayman S so that the new model would be taken seriously by enthusiasts. After all, it was under siege before rubber met pavement for being "just a Boxster with a roof".


    The 996TTS is surely a fantastic car, but it doesn't seem as special to me as its 993TTS predecessor or, my personal favorite, the extremely rare 964 Turbo S slantnose.
