    R8 Opinion ASAP Please

    Just got a phone call from my dealer that Today is my last day to change any options on the R8 that I ordered.

    I ordered Jet Blue (same color as the concept car)
    Silver siding
    Black napa leather
    6 speed

    Now, my question is should I stick to this color or go with Black or White. I'm kind of questioning myself on the color please let me know what you'll think.

    Ron, pics of the colours would be of some help!

    For now I would say the following:
    No black (hides the lines of the car and makes it too small). White will surely look great, but I'm not sure how long you will say that. Currently white is a very in vogue colour. With grey you can't go wrong, but maybe this will look a bit too discreet. And this blue, how does it look like? Is it dark or light?

    Ron - I saw a live R8 black with silver blade last Saturday in San Francisco. Exotic is the word. I was originally thinking of black with carbon or lava grey blade. Black with carbon or lava grey blade looks "cool". But black with silver blade looks "exotic". I will get mine in Black with silver blade.

    How about nothing? R8 will be a passing fad... No offense I hope you enjoy the car but the hype is killing me. Of course it will be a great car and I'm glad you are getting one early. I just don't see this car being around for very long, of course that's good for you... I'll stop rambling now and go back the 997 forum

    Ron,
    All your colors are conservative colors. So why not go for the best sexy attractive gorgeous aggressive color out of them. I chose black! the R8 looks magnifique in black, so evil!.

    white > grey > black > blue

    White or black;
    Considering the contrast of the sideblades, i'd take white with kevlar blades.
    Anywat, any colour it will always be a real supercar.

    I have a picture of a Jet blue R8 on my computer, it looks fantastic and really special too. Don't get me wrong. I love black but there are other dark colours which make a car look just as good.

    The darker and more contained the colour on the R8, the more elegant it looks. The graphics of sideblade (in dark colours naturally), airin- and outlets and the aggressive silhouette of the car become more prominent, the lighter the colour. Of course it depends on the purpose, but at least in Germany I would choose the dark grey colour - very elegant and resembles the "Armani" attempt of Audi design.

    imo, whatever colour you choose should contrast the siding.

    If they first showed the car with jet blue then stick with it. They have a good idea what looks best on the car. For my second choice, though normally I would agree with Sefan that black hides the color and tends to make the car smaller, the R8 has some unique styling features and black would give it elegance along with the performance.

    If you go with black don't do black interior. a beige or tan would look great. BLK on BLk is just blah. Shows no originality or flare (Sorry Stradale I have to tell it like it is. )

    dont go with black, imo. black hides the lines and features of a car, and I love the R8, but in black it would make for some TT-R8 mix ups.

    white with carbon as stated above!

    I did order mine in ice grey, my first"silver" car. I drove a black one, very nice, more agressive, but black is a job... Maybe the middle grey would be the best ?
    When will your car be delivered ?

    AFAIK Carbon Sigma side blades are still not available in USA so, that points out Daytona Grey(my color).
    My honest advice is to either stay with your Jet Blue/Ice Silver combo or go for Ice Silver/Apollo Silver combo. That bright silver with darker silver side blades looks pretty good in real life... Forget Audi configurator since most colors look pretty strange in it.

    From all R8s that I personally saw here is my fav list:

    1.Avus Silver Perleffect with Carbon Sigma side blades
    2.Daytona Grey Perleffect with Carbon Sigma side blades
    3.Misano Red Perleffect with Carbon Sigma side blades
    4.Mugello Blue Perleffect with Night Blue side blades
    5.Ice Silver Metallic with Apollo Silver side blades

    BTW, Avus Silver and Misano Red are Audi Exclusive items...

    Personally I think on white the Carbon sides look to hard. I would go white with silver or black/daytona gray with carbon.

    I think, white with silver panels looks need!

    Had a chance to compare a jet blue with silver blade and black with silver a while back and I have to agree with tony2006 and nberry that blue/silver is the classy option and black/silver the mean, purposeful machine-option.

    White does not fit the R8 lines and lava grey looks a bit dull compared to the other colours.

    Personally, I'd go with blue/silver if you want to get the black interior.

    A friend of mine took a black one for resale reason and take a 3M white foil, the cars looks hot.

    Thank you all very much for your inputs, really appreciate it.

    I came back from the dealer about an hour ago and finalized my order and got a copy of it from AUDI's ordering que. I still show as #2 that his order will go in for production .

    After talking to the sales person and the sales manager they told me as far as resale white would not be a good option although looks very good also Red and dark blue is out of the question too.

    Their system showed that there are 4 of my original color Jet Blue(1Y1Y) ordered in their system nationwide. However they had whole bunch of Lava Grey, Phantom Black, and Silver, also 8 Ibis White and 3 Red.

    My finale spec is as follows:

    19" wheels and LED for engine bay standard for the U.S. cars
    Jet Blue (1Y1Y)

    Here is my order form.

    Ron, I've seen the R8 in black and silver only.
    In silver, it looks like a "pumped-up" new Audi TT on steroids. In black, it looks like a super sportscar.

    There's a light blu one where I work. It's a press car. Thee was a black one but the car vanished.

    The R8 looks really good in that light silver/blue. Go for it. Black is great too.

    As RC said it, silver is a bit boring.
