I know of one Turbo which has been dynoed at 4000 km and afterwards at 12000 km. First he had 483 HP, afterwards 508 HP. ENGINE DYNO!!! Apparently the Turbo develops more power after 10000 km or so, I have the same feeling with my car. I don't know if all Turbos have more than 480 HP but especially the Tiptronic versions seem to develop a pretty impressive power figure.
Have you done it yourself?
Honestly: there is no way for a STOCK 997 Turbo to hit 0-300 kph in 35 seconds. You can be happy if the stock 997 Turbo does it in the tested 40.7 seconds.
The Tiptronic has an advantage up to 230-240 kph, over that, it looses around 1-2 seconds up to 300 kph. Things look different with a tuned car. Due to the increased power and torque, one gear less actually is an advantage, providing a slight increase in performance, somewhere in the 1-2 seconds range.
I know this sounds complicated and I don't have fancy figures to prove it but it is the reality.
No stock Carrera GT does 0-300 kph below 30 seconds, I once saw a very "favorable" performance list of 10(!) try-outs where the best time was 29.7 or 29.8 seconds but most of the others were in the 30-31 seconds range. Weather conditions were favorable.
Like I said before: the Performancebox and many other similar products are nice and they can actually really indicate certain performance gains but they're not 100% accurate like professional equipment. Another thing is that during professional testing, not only certified equipment is used but they also make sure that weather conditions, asphalt temperature and friction, etc. are within "comparable" specs. Life isn't always as easy as it seems, why should performance testing be different?!
