Re: Can you drive like this????

Pretty darn impressive. How to change a wheel if you don't have a jack...

Curious... what mistake did you make with your first TT?

Re: Can you drive like this????

My guess is he was one of those fellows who flipped his early-allocation TT to make a quick buck. Then, having realized (too late) what a great car it is, put his name down for a replacement. Please pardon my butting in.

Additionally, no, I can't drive like that. Fast corners and rev-matched downshifts, yes; 180-degree handbrake-induced parallel parking and two-wheel cruising, no. Well, actually, a cop pulled me over before after I had taken a turn at something north of the legal limit and said (disdainfully) "You were on two wheels back there!" Does that count?

P.S. I should mention that the car I was driving at the time was not a Porsche, and therefore looked less composed than my 944 would have.

Re: Can you drive like this????

Reminds me of those New England winters when my friends and I would take our Dad's car out for a "spin" in snow-coated parking lots.

Just think what we could have accomplished if we "stuck" to it! (reverse pun)

Re: Can you drive like this????

    devo:
The mistake was selling it. I have not been Porscheless since I bought my first one new in 1978. I've had a half dozen or so NA 911's, a 928, a Cayenne Turbo, 993, 996 & the 997 Turbos. My wife has had a couple of Boxsters. I just thought, with the other cars I owned, that Porsches were out of my system.

    neunhundertelf;
I don't call paying my deposit in FEB of 2005, waiting until May of 2006 to get the car at a MSRP of 144,000 & then selling it for 131,000 in November and now ordering another one "making a quick buck." I call that stupid. At least I am getting a discount on this one.

Re: Can you drive like this????

    My apologies.

I didn't mean to attach the flipper stigma to you, but I suppose I did. Porsches are investments in the soul.

I'm glad to hear you're getting another (with discount)!

No problem - Flipper NO. Stupid in thinking that, after 28 years of Porsche ownership, I wouldn't miss them - YES. I guess you're right. They become part or you soul.

Re: Can you drive like this????

Not in my car, but perhaps in yours. I'm willing to give it a go, if you are.

Thank you for the generous offer but I think I'll pass.

Re: Can you drive like this????

I watched a similar LIVE show here in Germany, it was the same stunt men team which participated in a couple of James Bond movies. Apparently there is a very good stunt school for drivers in France.

Anyway: on that day me and my kids watched the show, everything was running smoothly, no problems, perfect show. A couple of days later, one car crashed into a crowd at the same show, hurting some people very bad. I was already wondering when this is going to happen because between the cars and monster trucks and the crowd was only a light barrier made of wood.

What I actually wanted to say: it may work most of the time but one tiny little mistake and this doesn't look that cool anymore.
