    997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

According to the latest Porsche Panorama magazine, the new cab did a 7.52 which was 3 seconds behind the coupe at 7.49. No references were given for those times.

    Re: 997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

What's the official Porsche time for the Turbo Coupe if the new GT2 is stated as being 7'32"?

7'49" seems way slow to me (and yes I know it weighs a lot and has handling issues at the limit).

    Re: 997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

If memory serves well, 7.49 with regular tires and 7.40 with cup tires, ofiicial P lap times...

The claimed 7:32 for 997GT2 fit nicely into this sequence of "dream figures"

Dream on Zuffenhausen is all I can say

    Markus,
Do you want to bet with me that von Saurma will achieved 7.40min or better with new GT2?

I spoke with some P guys this summer here on Adriatic coast and I find out few extra things about both 997 Turbo and GT2...

    Extra things, hmmm....

P.S.: 7:40 or even 7:39, I believe, could be achievable (just look at the 996GT2 Mk1 add 70hp and sports tires...)

Kreso, always a teaser. Why don't you spill the beans now instead of distilling over the next few days?

Well, then it wouldn't be Kreso, right?

    Re: 997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

    Stefan,
    Your comment is !

BTW, here is a hint improved PASM setup(NOT PTM setup but, I learned few things about PTM as well) and some truly amazing tires(Stefan, remember our comments about Conan The Barbarian few months ago? )...

Oh yes, Conan the Bavarian, er, Barbarian . Seems as if Pirelli is the new master (of desaster).

Given how pathetic/laughable are the R&D advances of 997TT and 997GT2, perhaps the P guys should spend less time making empty claims while sitting on a beach (not sure why they need a vacation given their abysmal apparent R&D productivity)....

Perhaps they should try to develop cars w/impressive innovations and driving experiences that jaded, repeat buyers/drivers can evaluate for selves on own favorite public roads....and will directly compare vs 599 and Scud in daily/wkend use....

    Re: 997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

    VKSF,
Did you drive 430 Scuderia? No? Then why are you making dream conclusions? Scuderia will be a bad daily drive, badder then 997 GT2 for sure...

Regarding development-Porsche developed Bucket seats with full side and thorax bags compliment, Scuderia buckets do not have any airbags at all... Since 430 are pretty prone to fire(as is 599) it is pretty much weekend driver at its best...

Paddle shifter... Man, you are obsessed with it... I agree with you(suprise!) that automatic gearbox a la MB 7G Tronic is a good thing for city commuting but, sequential manuals are not... Unlike you one of the guys that I know have a problem with uphill starts with his F1 Superfast(what a stupid name) 599-Ferrari simply claim that he lives in wrong part of the town!

Do not get me wrong I like 430 a lot, I even owned one...

BUT, I do not understand you... If you do not like Porsche(or other sportscars as Lamborghini's or Aston's) simply do not post here. And IMHO neither CL63/65 are even close to be called sportscars, they are Exxon tankers for very wide roads use...

Kreso are you sure about that? No-one has driven the Scuderia so far and I'd say it is a better daily driver than the GT2. The Challenge Stradale was not that bad in this respect, I guess the Scuderia will perform similar, if not better.

BTW, love that phrase about the "Exxon tankers for very wide roads use".

    Re: 997tt laps N-ring in 7.52

    Stefan,
Scuderia is more die hard sportscar then GT2. Scuderia is as low as GT2 and bumps could be a problem for both cars...

GT2 brochure clearly states that it could be used every day(ok, Porsche marketing)...

BUT, IMHO biturbo engine(remember that GT2 engine have less prone lag then normal 997 Turbo engine) is better for everyday use then high reving(almost race type) screaming(it is way louder according to AMS article then normal F430) Scuderia engine. And that uphill starts(but, it is a problem for all sequential manuals)...

Both Scuderia and GT2 are awsome cars but, even to my own supriese I like GT2 more. It is IMHO almost perfect(very sporty) 911.
Just one last thing-GT2 engine will for sure last longer then Scuderia's... In fact do you know any F430 owner with more then 50000km's on clock? I do not...
My point is that GT2 is a better buy as a keeper. Of course, I could be wrong as well...

Doesn't have the Scuderia an extra comfort-button in the centre console?

And concerning longevity of engines, I'd say the Ferrari V8 are very good at that.

Hmmmm, maybe they are just going for the hone-your-driving-skills real-auto-enthusiast market, and not the jaded, bored, short-attention-span, use-a-play-station-joystick-to-pick-your-nose, easy-come-easy-go here-today-gone-tomorrow pretentious poseur market.
