    New generation cayman to have aluminum body?

    The 998/988 is rumoured to have a light weight unit aluminum body in 2009.
    Will it be true?

    More can more new sport cars use aluminum body.2900lbs is a common weight for them.But Porsches of this generation are as heavy as a BMW 3 series.

    New M3 weighs 3,700 lbs. New Cayman weighs around 3,100. Maybe you meant M3 from 12 years ago?

    I mean the general 3 Series, not M3
    325i weights a little bit more than 3300lbs
    320i weights no more than 3200lbs,same as the 318i

    Cars which have significantly less power, meaning every piece of its running gear can also be smaller and lighter, eg brakes, transmission, suspension components, even the wheels and tire.

    Apples and oranges.
    What other current ~300hp car weighs less? I am sure there is one or two, but it is one of the lighter cars in its class.

    Noble M400 weighs 2,400 lbs and has 425hp, but you're right, there aren't enough examples...

    Left out the 335i at 3,560lbs abd cab version at 3,900lbs!
