    Oh torture, when will it be here?

    I've seen this topic come up in the past (via searching) but there isn't much of a conensus so I'll ask:

    On July 26th, I got a call from the dealer letting me know that my recently ordered 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo was completed but that the status hadn't been updated beyond saying that it was "completed".

    So at this point, it is either waiting for the boat, on the boat, or has arrived here but I am not sure.

    Based on your own experiences, roughly when should I expect to see this car? I live in Michigan. Thanks!

    Now for the fun part. Yeah, right!

    Your dealer should be able to tell you when your car was/is "On Vessel", the name of the ship, etc. Then you'll be able to track it to port. After it arrives at port, it could be just a matter of days or up to 2-3 weeks.

    After my factory delivery, I received my "baby" about 60 days later. Others, also on the west coast, have received theirs in just over a month.

    Just hang in there. Your dealer should be able to get you the ship information and there are ways to track those schedules. Imagine that I took delivery of my car on June 29 and I was able to drive it for a total of 8 days for and 1500 miles due to my travel schedule. That's torture!

    May I ask how long ago did you place your order for your MY08 Turbo? 'Recently ordered' sounds like you only waited a month or so!

    I have been quoted a 12 month wait for mine that I ordered a few months back...

    I ordered it at the end of June. Originally it was going to be a March 2008 delivery but a slot opened up earlier and it got moved up to a July build date.

    Now I'm just waiting for it to get here. I'll call the dealer today to see if I can get the ship name and such.

    How does one track a ship?

    FYI my 08 Turbo was completed on July 19th and it arrived at my dealer on August 13th, I will be picking it up today at 5:00.... Oh the wait is killing me!!

    August 13th? Today's August 8th. You have some sort of time machine we don't know about?

    You and me both! My 2008 TT finished production on 7/27 and it still has not made it "on vessel" yet.

    I was at the Porsche showroom, museum and factory in Stuttgart about 6 weeks ago. I asked about the TT Cab in the showroom and was told they had no information about the car because it has not yet been released. Even the fact that the car is on the Porsche website did not encourage them to give me any info. But, while at the museum (which is adjacent to the factory) I saw several TT Cabs driving around in a secure area. So, at least 3 have already been built.

    Mine was completed around July 11th, didn't make it on vessel until Aug.1, arrived at port Aug. 10th. If you know the name of your ship, it can be tracked. Look at www.bumperplugs.com under the "links" section.
