Aren't the paddles the same size as the ones on a TTS?

One  problem with extended paddles is with Porsche the paddles move with the steering wheel. Ferrari paddles which are large are fixed. I am not sure I want large paddles moving when the wheel turns. They could interfere with the maneuver.

I noticed on a recent test drive of a 991.2 PDK that the paddles are smaller, AND more inset towards the wheel centre, than on our 997, to the point where anyone with smaller hands now has to rotate the wrist to reach them and shift (not the case with the older ones).  No idea why Porsche changed them, and it is not different with the different steering wheel options - relative position of the paddles is the same.

Agree regarding the 991.2 PDK paddles: too far inboard. I do like the reduced travel though. The travel on the older design (2016 in my case) is excessive imho, and out of sync with the shorter and crisper travel of the shift lever when in manual mode.

Congrats Nick. Enjoy. And don’t touch these wheels, they are fine the way they are.

x2 do not paint the glossy black Nick, that would make them look cheap and outdated IMO, mate is much sportier and better looking for black wheels....

Are you still planning to order the 991 GT3 RS mk2 or is the GT3 a keeper?

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

The general manager who is in charge of the entire dealership was taking pictures of my car as we were chatting. He knew that I turn my cars in 12-18 months. When I turned in my .2Targa, he drove it until they sold it. He asked whether I planned to buy an RS and I told him I wasn't sure. He smiled and said, "I'll see you in 12-18 months when you pick up your new car." He knows me well.smiley

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I had a chance to drive the car a little more. After driving it there is no doubt in my mind that this car is several grades above the .1GT3.

The engine may be the difference along with the new tires (I have the Michlen Cups 2's). The engine is more responsive than the .1. The pull of the car tracks the increasing RPM's in line with the throttle input. The torque comes on immediately and the sensation is dramatic. You know your in a car with a race engine heritage.

I entered a freeway in third gear at around 4500 rpm's and took it up to 7500 without the throttle fully depressed. The feeling and sound was out of this world. The car leaped in an angry growl sending chills up my back. I was scream YES! YES! YES! This is what a performance car should be. The exhaust sound is the best I have heard on a Porsche. It's a refined race sounding. It's loud and glorious. I don't believe cars around me would find it objectionable. Instead, they would say, "I wish I had one of those".

I did have chance to feel the handling of the car. The tires are sticky. There was one portion of the ride that has some curves and though there was traffic I still managed to test the handling. The car is like glue on the road. No dipping or unnecessary roll. Just perfect.

The one area which I will caution GT3 owners is going over bumps and driveways. I have the front lifter and as I slowly went over a small speed bump the lifter did its job. However, the backend slightly bottomed out. You need to be very slow and clear the entire car.

    More later.

FWIW, though I haven’t gone full Monty with car, based on what I experienced the .2 RS would be superfluous for me. The .2 GT 3 has all the power you need to maximize driving enjoyment. Smiley

Nick congrats again - I have managed to start exercising my .2 and wow it is just unbelievable.

The sound is nuts and the transmission is amazing in PDK-S.

I cant think of anything they could improve - other than the size of the Pdk paddles

Nick post is all the reasons why Porsche should offer the exact same car with no wing and rear seats, and even convertible. Their loss.

The incoming 991 Speedster will address that minus the rear seats.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I remember there use to be a company that would fit rear seats in a GT3. For countries that are not as strict as Germany, this could be a viable option. Regarding safety, I'm sure it's going to be safer than most old 911s.
