Do you see the color in you? =]

Please vote for your favorite color on the 997!!This time I included a whole list of Pcar colors.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

    black is timeless

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

The classic 911 colors are:silver, white, blue, green, yellow, red.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

Gotta go with Silver for 997/S. (and most other gorgeous, simple, non-jazzed-up Porsches)

Darker colors for 997 Turbo, FWIW.

NA Carrera is beautiful and sleek and monochrome silver is the "color" of choice in design studios; shows off the aesthetics of car (volumes, shades, shapes) best.

Darker colors for Turbo since it's got too many vents, slats and wings; IOW too much stuff attached to it. Dark colors downplay the confusion.

The fact that Silver is the German racing color (used to be white) makes Silver the logical and hence Premier color for Porsche.

Cash value of my opinion is not us$.02. Actual value is 1/20th of a cent.

Yes, I remember seeing it in person and being verrry impressed. Beeeyoooteeeful color.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

My vote is for seal but then, i'm biased.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

Someone at Porche must have thought Cobalt was pretty good. They put it on the cover of the 997 brochure.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

    Black, baby!

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I just can not understand why the total percentage is about 140?
what is wrong with the calculator?

you tell us ...It's your calculator. The numbers are correct.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I just got done waxing my black 5 minutes ago. So, right now, at this moment, nothing out there looks spiffier than my freshly detailed black!!

Another not so well-known fact is that in the last several years, black has come to the forefront as being the most valued color on the post-war collector car market, commanding a premium. Of course, the car had to have been originally black from the factory, color-changes don't count.

    For whatever it's worth...

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

It's now up to 190.79%. I don't think the numbers are correct.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I'm seeing most people preferred black over basalt black.. are there reasons that made you guys come up with that decision?
    just curious. =]

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

well of course other than the 600 you're saving. :P

    Because it looks better.

You are misintrepreting the data. The numbers displayed are the numbers who voted for that selection followed by a space then the percentage. For example, for black, the
32 17% means 32 voted for black and it is 17% of the total who have voted (not 32.17%).

haha, my friend asked me the same question when he saw this poll.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

and yes, nothing beats a clean black car! (almost any car in black is sexy)

but I'm leaning towards the metallic colors because they tend to look clean after months w/o a wash.
btw, anyone seen the new ruby red metallic? anybody ordering a TT cab in that color? =]

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I've always considered metallic blacks (like basalt) to be for big luxo-cruisers... They look dynamite on a 7-series or S-Class or S8, or even Cayenne... But on a Porsche sports car it's kind of a non-fit to me. When people see a black sports car, they expect a pure infinite buried-alive serious black, and the Basalt just confuses, as if the car's covered in dust or something...

If I was going for a big sedan, in a dark color, I'd love a metallic black...

But on a sports car, any sports car, I want it to look as pure and glistening as ink.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I'm slightly frightened that on a Porsche forum we have to post instructions on how to read a poll......

I guess I was hallucinating decimal points. They said all that stuff I did in the '60s would have no lasting effects.

    LOL.

Yeah, perhaps we should eliminate the " " (beer drinking icon).

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

    Hey,--where's my color?

That, my friend, is a perfectly sound and reasonable explanation.... You're excused!!

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

Black was my favorite Porsche color 5 years ago when I bought my black 996 turbo. Problem is trying to live with the color when you use the car everyday, black is really a second job. This time around going w/ Basalt. IMO it's more interesting than just black...Besides that for the Turbo you get metallic colors like Basalt & Artic usually costing $900 for free! Strange for Porsche but sounds good to me.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

Do you guys prefer to tint your windows on the 997?

I do, a _slight_ tint is good. But not to the point where you've gone "gangsta." It's intimidating to other drivers. It drives me crazy when I have no idea who or what is in the car next to me.

Re: Do you see the color in you? =]

I despise tint. Don't like the way it looks, don't like the way it changes my view out, and I don't like how it takes the interior out of play when viewing the car from outside.

That, and the moment the tint hits the glass, the car screams "used car lot" and "high school parking lot" to me...

Of course I know that it's the car collector in me that causes me to dislike tint. Window tint on a collectible is like ketchup on filet mignon.....
