    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Nice touch to have the Porsche-Crest keyring in yellow to match the calipers, and not the seat belts, like so many others.

991.2 GT3 RS with 520 hp 4.0 liters. Production until end of summer, same for the regular GT3. No more additional allocations for GT3 units like many suggested. There’s no viable solution for reducing emissions to meet the regulations.

This is what I found on a german forum, take it for what it’s worth. He didn’t specify if this was true for markets outside of  Europe.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Hm, that’s not a good sign. Sounds like it’ll be very hard to get if the production run is that short. I don’t understand why they don’t open up the GT3 orderbook in the meantime yes there’s plenty of demand.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I'd say just pre-order one with your dealer if you want one. You'll either get one or you won't, whether they are limited or not. If your decision to buy is based on limited production, well...

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Not as easy as that around here. No dealer will accept anything other than some contact details until they are on the configurator.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

If the rumor of the limited production run is true, then, a lot of people will get disappointed. Even more so, if it is going to be the very last NA GT3 RS.

It's going to be Geneva 2015 all over again: "Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Sir, these are all spoken for already"...

On the other hand, I don't understand, why Porsche would go through the hassle of R&D for only a couple hundred units. They also skipped the regular GT2 for instance.

    Time will tell.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Last NA GT3 RS? Perhaps, but does it matter? There are plenty of NA GT3 RS cars for sale now and will be in the future too. Is being a 991 that much more important than being a 997?

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I guess it only matters if you're a collector and care about things like history. If you want cars from what they are -- cars -- then the best NA GT3 RS of all time definitely isn't any of the ones coming out of the factory.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Some people like to go and give them a beating around racetracks; for us the latest one is usually the best.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Didn't someone just post an article where a reputable race team/company prepped a .1 GT3 RS and it was way better than the stock one?

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

Sure, but a .2 GT3 is still quicker, and of course the .2 RS will put that in the shade as well. My plan B is indeed to get a .1 RS and have Manthey optimise it within the realms of what is possible without stupid Swiss pieces of paper.

    I don't follow your logic, noone1.

You question why the last NA GT3 RS is the best, because you think you can mod any older model (e.g. 997) into becoming "the best NA GT3 RS of all time"?

Why can't you project this idea of modding onto the last iteration of GT3 RS?

I theory you could, but you'll be up against diminishing returns. It also becomes a question of why the latest RS is better than the previous one, and if aftermarket parts for both are better/equal.

If .1 and .2 would use the same aftermarket parts, then that becomes a wash.

As long as your desired performance is beyond stock and below the max, then either car would suffice.

Not an RS but a properly prepped 991 GT3. Engine and PDK is original the rest is more or less modified.

I always wondered, when installing the wheel arch fenders, do you also need the CUP front bumper?

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

    Some details abut the car:

No rear wheel steering, 18" wheels, GT4 5 lugs hubs, brakes from cup, all unnecessary wiring removed etc.

Suppose that the front is Cup. I think the end is RSR but not sure.

The endplates on the wing is from 991 RS - they where not allowed to us use original end plates by TÜV.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

So it has TÜV, that’s interesting. How did they get passed the fact that it’s missing the front turn signals?

That's pretty slick. The sky is the limit with 911s. You could probably turn a road car into a cup car if you really wanted to. Not saying you would, but yeah, you probably could.

Depends where you live, but most places in the US have no sort of inspection and you can run anything you want, anywhere you want.

    Re: 991 GT3 RS

I so much wanted to put 18" wheels on mine, but the calipers and especially the lower control arms won't allow it. laugh
