Nick - the 959 was one of the few Porsches ever sold at that price point and it is today worth quite a bit more than its original selling price.

Grant, very few can be driven on US roads. I believe Bill Gates tried to convert one for US roads and found it to be a rather daunting task.

Whoopy, 10,000 miles on a Ferrari is a lot of miles and yet they still command prices over MSRP. I have a couple with over 10,000 miles and did not lose a penny on resale.

If accurate, then for the USA that means no price increase versus the 996GT2-so actually a discount taking inflation into account. Isn't that what Porsche did when they priced the 993TT the same as the predecessor 964T back in 1996?

    Re: 997 GT2 press release...

Pretty crazy if you take both inflation into account and more importantly the total butt whipping the dollar has taken from the euro over that time period.

All car prices in US have been on a deflationary spiral over past 15yrs+.....consider adjusting today's prices for 2-3% annual CPI inflation; deprec of dollar (some 30-40% vs Euro in past 3-4 yrs); and decreased interest rates/more efficient $0-down 2-3 yr lease structures of today (recall interest rates/lease terms of 10-15 yrs ago)....

If one further considers perf/safety/daily-useability/low mtce/reliability of today's perf cars vs those of 5/10/15 yrs ago, the cheapness of today's perf cars is even more apparent....review NBR times of ancient cars of 5-15 yrs ago vs those of today .....sort of like comparing the perf of the $1K Motorola StarTac of '97 vs today's best $500 smartphone....

Pricing of cars is akin to tech commodities like smartphones/Blkberry/flat-panel TVs....not Pateks/Petrus....

    Thx for pointing that out

Given how cheap all these cars are (esp in the more efficient/dynamic US car mkt), any car nut should $0 down-lease a 599, CL63/65 and 997TT/GT2; do own back-to-backs on favorite local roads; draw own conclusions; and trade-in cars that don't measure up (several car nuts in CA/NYC have already adopted this approach to sorting out cars' relative real-world perf ).....the surviving cars will be obsoleted in 6-12 mos anyway by new-tech cars from F/AMG/P....isn't rapidly advancing/increasingly cheap automotive perf and tech great???...Increasingly like how one views life cycle of Blkberry/iPhones, etc....

    Re: 997 GT2 press release...

What good is a CL63/65 against a Ferrari or a Porsche in any sporting contest? Even that Best Buy worker with the M3 you so arrogantly denigrated knows the dynamic and visceral differences beteen a CL63 and a Ferrari. Do you????

Suggest you join other car nuts/hedgy worshippers with CL obsessions at nearest counseling session/personalized air bag testing sites in greenwich/sf/ or london before next 6 months of narco medicine/latest financial or IT vaporware poofs on startup Save imaginary gated mansions/mega garages before the big rabbit net appears! Maybe fellow CL63/599 owners with 6 month ownership expectations and decks of thorazine soaked platinum amex cards can resolve real world motoring perf questions w/ astro projection and Costco sized cases of mescaline filled Hostess Twinkies

This was the case, but the issues have been solved several years ago. If you're looking for one to drive in SD, they are available (for lots of money)

    Re: 997 GT2 - Official Pictures...

The price in Germany will be 189.500 euros. Has anyone received delivery dates in Europe yet?
