What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Having two of them! A friend of mine (Over the Hill) finally took delivery of his 997TT. He also pretty much copied me in almost everything that I did including getting the GT3 RS wheels, cargraphic "sport" mufflers, etc. We got together for a drive and a photoshoot.

    Hope you enjoy!

He doesn't have the same exhaust tips as me, yet, but he's working on it.

Maybe he should get the license plate "bomb" then it'll be pretty cool!

I have the carbon fiber trim and he has the aluminum trim

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

One has tinted windows and the other hasn't....that's the only difference I could spot

Don't get me wrong, your combo is one of my all time fav but for your friend to have almost exactly the same spec is quite strange - doesn't he want something that makes a statement about himself? Don't tell me he even copied the interior specs - leather colours and leather bits......

Anyway, stunning cars and great pics! Thanks for posting!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

moto, I'm not sure why Larry copied me, maybe he knows I have good taste? I'll let him chime in here.

He just hasn't had a chance to get the tinted windows yet nor the black ceramic exhaust tips. Those are coming soon.

He actually has the aluminum shift knob/ebrake handle, no carbon fiber bits inside and a few more leather bits like the door finisher and dome light piece. I actually have these bits on order and will soon have them. I love the elegant look those bits offer. I also plan to swap out the aluminum e-brake handle and keep the carbon fiber shift knob.

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

The Atomic with Black dual tips FTW!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

You had the natural grey interior and he has the regular grey Anyway, congrats Larry, you have waited long enough.

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Larry used to have a M3 Dinan?

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

What's even more amazing is that it's a sunny day in seattle, must be one of the three that you get on average per year beautiful cars, enjoy in good health

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Thanks for sharing the very nice pics, Jason!

I never saw a 997 turbo like yours before it is very nice... aweful! Sometimes I vistit your homepage to see what new Turbo-Pics you got.

    Greetings

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Gorgeous... some pics look almost like a Photoshop <grin>

Always safe trips with those beauty beasts!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Beautiiiiful. I wanted to order Cobalt but I live in a small Western Pa town and my wife convinced me that I need to be a little more subtle. Not that a Turbo in any color is very subtle. That is why I am going a little crazy with the interior.

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

    Great pics!!!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Nice photoshoot! Quick question Jason, you may have answered this before but what product did you use for the window tint and what % did you tint them to? is the back the same as the sides? I don't want mine too dark just a bit darker than stock + the laws in CA. might get me pulled over if it is too dark.

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

I believe that the tint film used is from Llumar. I went with 35% all the way around which is the legal limit in Washington. Larry plans to get 25% on his which will be a bit darker. I have 15% on the front side windows of my Range Rover and it's quite dark especially at night. Too dark for my tastes.

Let me set the record straight. With the limited number of colors Porsche offers I would be copying somebody in the immediate area unless I chose a paint to sample color, which would have delayed my delivery substantially. Both our cars have natural grey leather, but beyond that there are quite a few subtle differences. Jason's car has Michelin tires, I have Bridgestones. He has 35% window tint I'll have 25% installed this week. I have leather door finishers, dome light, seat backs and the aluminum look e-brake handle and shifter. As it turns out after I ordered the CDZ leather gear lever trim, Jason ordered the same option to retrofit into his car. I think after he saw other cars he decided he wanted leather door finishers, dome light, and the aluminum look e-brake handle. I don't think of it as one of us copying the other, rather we are "going to school" on each other. I installed the all leather Techart steering wheel after driving Jason's car with the carbon fiber trimmed wheel. I also installed the Cargraphic exhaust like Jason's after hearing his. At the time I thought it was to loud, but I had no other mufflers I could listen to, so I went with a known quantity. We have both made mistakes. For example we both bought the 6 disc CD changer, which has been rendered useless with the addition of the Dension I-Pod interface. He bought the GT3 wheels and spacers before he found out the RS wheels would fit without spacers. I ordered the Electronic Logbook and Extended Navigation Module and now realize I will never use either one. I also got the PCCB brakes, but I determined after a couple of PDE schools that the steel brakes would have been more than adequate for my driving. Bottom line: No matter what these cars look like they are awesome machines, with way more capability than I will ever be able to utilize.

Actually, I've been thinking of getting "NUCLEAR"

    Done...fixed it.

Larry is right, we're both benefiting from each other in more ways than one. I for one am glad that he's learning from me and vice versa. I agree with him that I do wish that I never got the CD changer, electronic logbook, extended navigation module, etc. I do wish that I had gotten the leather door finishers, dome light leather and the aluminum shifter/ebrake handle. However, what I'm planning to do is just swap out the e-brake handle while leave the CF shift knob in place. That will make a really unique look.

I'm honored to know Larry and am equally humbled by the fact that he trusts my judgment enough to do it for himself.

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

Awesome pics! That might turn out to be the only time in history that 2 almost identical Cobalt turbos meet like that.

No problem w/ having almost the same car as another guy, it's you that has to like what you have best. Getting second choice colors/options just to be different that what someone else already has isn't the way I'd go. Congrats to the both of you w/ beautiful turbos'!!!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

The BEST deja vu anyone could experience!!!

Re: What's better than one Cobalt Blue 997TT?

    Awesome and very rare
