I suspect the increased 997 production is driven by new sales in emerging markets in the Far East and not that much an increase in mature markets. Good news all around.

Fiat/Ferrari will soon expand Far East sales too. Fiat's Montezemolo is applying at tighter grip over Ferrari as recent events have already demonstrated.

I think if we compare the quantities of vehicle production today to 10 years ago, there will be a big increase. We have more population and people nowadays are wealthier. not just we're seeing more 911s on the street, BMW/MB are everywhere in my country. they're more than toyotas lol.

Who cares about exclusivity? I drive my Porsche DAILY because it fits my needs, my pocketbook and is a hell of a lot of fun.

If I really cared what others thought, and wanted to be "exclusive," I wouldn't have bought a Porsche - sadly, if one looks to their car to achieve attention and respect, they deserve what they receive.

Who cares about exclusivity? I drive my Porsche DAILY because it fits my needs, my pocketbook and is a hell of a lot of fun.

If I really cared what others thought, and wanted to be "exclusive," I wouldn't have bought a Porsche - sadly, if one looks to their car to achieve attention and respect, they deserve what they receive.

Correct! You, I and other well-balanced individuals care less about the exclusivity cr*p as we do not lack self-esteem. Unfortunately, some others do and worry about that sh*t.

Philosophically, I think those concerns are still remnants of the 19th century bourgeoisie and roayalty aspirations. I still know, particularly in Europe, many who claim empty royalty claims, to be in their own eyes above the crowd. Pathetic really.

I wish everyone could own/drive a P-car. Most everyone would be much happier ( well except for at least one F-car owner

) , and I would love, love to see so many more of them.

That's not correct. If I'm paying so much for a car, it's not just the performance I'll be looking for. Of course, the performance and experience will be the major pleasure i'm getting out of the Pcars.
However, cars are not an investment and we all hope to get the best out of it. Whether it is the exclusiveness or the experience. Pcars are known for both their performance and exclusiveness. Especially the 911! that's why we have the boxster/cayenne/cayman for people who enjoys driving the porsche but doesn't really matter if they want that exclusiveness to it.
So in conclusion, boxster/cayman/cayenne are the fun cars of the porsche line and the 911s are the models for the more serious drivers. (it has heritage!)

Emphatically NOT AT ALL! You pay for the R&D. Expensive yes, but that is it. I would never pay for "exclusiveness." As a matter of fact I never pay for anything from the silly Exclusive department.

I'm sorry but if you think that way you are not a P-car aficionado. There are many show-off, country club, boulevard poseur cars, many a lot flashier, to choose from. A P-car buyer gets it for the engineering and I do not care if it is a Boxster/Cayman/911/Carrera GT.

I think it's down to the buyer's preferences. I love the engineering of the car and the whole package that a Porshce 911 offers. (I just love German engineering! Not saying others aren't good of course but i prefer it)

If performance is what I only look for in a sports car, I can buy the cheaper BMW Mseries/MB AMG (they are faster). I love the Porsche for it's heritage, handling, exclusiveness, feelings, involvement etc. But with all to respect, I think it's down to the user's preferences in how they view their dream car.

This is my 6th P-Car and I buy them because of the thrill and anticipation I experience each and every time I sit in one.

I've tried many other brands over the years and nothing else comes close...

Nick, if that were true then it would mean that you haven't crossed a major street in San Diego in the last 4-5 years at least. ALL those Porsche drivers wouldn't have missed that opportunity!

Oooops! Just remembered I'm talking to the guy who used an F360 and F430 Spyder exclusively to drive to Starbaucks and the McDonalds Drivethru Lane.

You'd never need to cross a street, would you.

I dream of porsche since childhood... (long time ago) now i'm driving my 4th one in eleven years...
Just came home from a small journey and every singletime i drive it... i adore the feelings it brings to me... so, what a hell with exclusivity... Let as many people as possible expierience this thrills. Let p make money, so they can invest in an even more thrilling 998!!

It is a lot...but 100K is spread over many international places.
20 years ago, I bet 911s were mostly selling in North America/Western Europe. Now the geographic spread of customers is much wider. I think that also explains.
Do we see too many Porsches? I think it depends were you go.
On a sunny week-end here in Switzerland you will see 30 of them in 2 hours. In other places/weather conditions you will not see any during the day...
For me I do not car about 100K or not. If more people can enjoy this fantastic toy, even better.
But I would really like to see Porsche come back to racing...

The more people that buy 911s, the better our price/performance will be. The same engineering costs spread over more units.
