When I owned my 997TT, I did it for 20-30 seconds after every drive. After a hard drive, I would either take an extended drive or plan my cool down while driving before reaching my destination too avoid the extended idling period. I believe that a proper driving cool down is better than an idling one. But, if driven hard and not having that option, I let her cool for two minutes min.

It's smart to take it easy for the last few miles of your trip. Even though, AFAIK, the car will run cooling system on it's own after parked, taking it easy those last few miles can't hurt.
BTW, remember to turn off your AC ("Eco" button) but keep fan running for the last few miles to avoid possible smelly mildew result.

What you want to accomplish is have the turbos spool down before shutting off the engine. The turbos receive oil to its bearings via the engiines oil system, and if you have the turbos wound up tight ( ots of RPM and hot) the turbo bearings can coke due to the lack of forced lubrication.

I try to enter my garage at 75mph; that's after a 120 mph run down my adjacent street then a quick turn up my street- you know 0-60 in 3.5 seconds- and into the garage. So, just because the turbo's oiling system does flush the turbo bearings with oil after shut down, it can do nothing but good to practice the idling cool down. It's a good practice even for NA engines because the cooling system does a quicker job than shutting the engine down hot.
