Porsche must take care as they transition the brand portfolio mix to ELVs. The forecast of 50% of Porsches being ELVs by 2025 is pretty optimistic.

I agree but I was wrong about Porsche's strategy in the past, so maybe I am wrong now as well.

Well, wrong in the sense that they stayed successful and sold lots of cars but maybe not wrong in the sense that they lost many customers to other brands and could have sold much more cars with a "better" (928 successor GT, 960) model portfolio strategy.

    Time will tell...

Agree...Time will tell..The 911 and its variants are the heart of the Porsche Brand so they must ensure that they don't lose sight of that. I think the 992 will provide a glimpse of the future.  For myself, I just took delivery of a Porsche preowned 2016 GTS. Just not ready to make the move to a turbo engine.

Yes, the C4S had PSE, but didn't have the exhaust notes in the high revs that the GTS has.

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

That’s not the GT3 wing but a much lower one, more like a spoiler on top of a ducktail than a wing. It’s part of the aerokit.

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

Gauss - You are correct. It has the aerokit plus the PASM sport suspension, leather interior, MT,  Xpel wrap and very low mileage. It was a lucky call from my dealer on this car.

Official announcement is next year (I expect summer with a autumn/winter delivery for first cars in Germany but this is not official yet).

Biggest changes will probably be these ones:

    1. No more pure (whatever this means) manual gearboxes (it just doesn't make sense with the complex tech coming to these cars). Smiley

    2. No more n/a engines in the series production GT models (there could be one or two limited edition n/a versions of a certain model but still not clear).

    3. Hybrid still in the works (very likely for next gen Turbo S).

    4. Tire manufacturers involved deeply with development from day one, especially Pirelli. Smiley

    5. Cars get wider (rear and even front).

    6. Cars won't get lighter anymore. Smiley

Yes, Porsche will use the same platform for the 992 VW Group uses for the next gen Huracan, R8 (if there is going to be one, the fate of the next R8 generation still doesn't seem to be 100% decided, unlike other claims in the press), Aventador, 960 Smiley and maybe another model. Only Aventador is supposed to stick to a n/a 12 cyl. engine but it is also likely that there is going to be an optional turbo charged V12 for this car with much more power, to lift it into a different performance class.

Sorry, this is what I heard from to separate sources. Smiley

One source even suggested that Porsche abandoned the idea of a GT based on the Panamera and will offer more backseat room with real and comfortable backseats in a certain 992 version.

I still have a hard time believing this because I think Porsche needs a "real" GT (similar to BMW 6 series and Mercedes C class Coupe) badly and the 992 just isn't big enough for that.

"No more pure manual". I assume that means things like rev matching and other throttle control schemes during shifting will not be defeatable, as I suspect they are needed for emissions purposes (and turbo spooling purposes).

    Sport-o-Matic!

My dad bought a '68 sportomatic VW bug convertible for my mom as a toy one summer. It might have been the slowest car ever created. I don't think there was a 0-60 as I don't think there was a 60...

well don't you think the Bentley Continental GT is such a car? It has the Panamera platform underneath, even the 8-speed PDK Gearbox. Panamera Coupe would take Clients away from Bentley. In this class it's more about luxury and the new Continental is doing a really good job with it's W12 and I'm sure there will be the V8 from Porsche in the next years. I read today that the Bentley will even be produced in Leipzig.

Re: 992 (Next 911 generation 2018/2019) Thread Closed

Bentley GT costs like $200K. Different tax bracket.

Panamera Coupe wouldn't steal Bentley clients because Bentley clients are more concerned about image and cachet. Not to say Porsche doesn't have cachet, but I see 100x as many Panameras as I see Bentleys and those buyers don't want that.
