I'll get back on topic. I was holding out for the flappy gearbox to be introduced but I can't keep waiting. Going down to my OPC on Sunday to look at the Turbo, I have absolutely no intention of putting down a deposit which means I probably will!
The last time I was hear there was lots of 'spirited' exchanges about the merits of tip v manual for the new Turbo. Loathe as I am to drag it back up I wonder how people feel about it now after they've been driving the things for a year. Will I get jumped on if I start a thread about it do you reckon?
I'm thinking the tip just because it's faster but I do love a manual car, tricky one.

1) You love a manual car
2) A manual 997 TT is faster than you'll ever want to drive on public roads, particularly on Gatso- and CCTV-infested GB roads
3) 997 TT is only supposedly faster from 0 to whatever. That is, acceleration in a straight line. Where do you get to drive that far in a straight line on GB roads?
Why is that a tricky decision? No-brainer, surely?

But fritz, if I had the tip I could accelerate at half the distance between two protons in a crystal lattice quicker than if I had the manual, don't you get it?

I don't know. I have a 997S and I'm p!ssed off with being slapped by tuned ST3's and Evo's. I want something that TOTALLY SMASHES EVERY OTHER ROAD USER INTO GROVELLING OIL AND BLOOD!!!!!!!!

Hmmm. I'm not sure if I do get it.
I'm familiar with Malaysian car maker Proton.
Had lunch with that company's CEO one time. 
But never heard of a car called Crystal Lattice though. Who makes it?

Maybe you should get yourself something like a Sherman tank. Suspect they probably have auto boxes, but don't think that they'll be Tiptronic type.

When you turn up with your Sherman I think everyone else will be driving away as quickly as possible, so non-confrontation is pretty much guaranteed.

Neither yet Res, I've got a few months grace before finalising. They're letting me have a tip for a weekend test drive on the 27th and there's a day at mallory park at some point in the next couple of months where you get to drive both on the track. I don't actually fancy the mallory park thing, I'm not a good driver by any estimation and feel very nervous about a track day, might wiggle out of that.
I'm now extremely glad that I made the extra effort and payed outright for my 997S when I got it. I've put ten down already, should get at least 50 for my current car so effectively I'm only paying 40 to get into my absolute dream car. I'll keep this one for 3 years then sell it and buy a Nissan Micra because by then the eco-fascists would have completely boll*cksed any chance of actually enjoying driving!
